PlayTV allows you to watch, pause and record free-to-air digital television channels using your PS3. You can pause live television, or rewind it if you missed something; record one channel while watching another; and access a complete guide to the coming week's programmes.

If you also have a PSP, then it's easy to take the full service with you, wherever you go; if you are within range of a Wireless Internet connection, you can take advantage of PlayTV's great features from anywhere in the world, using Remote Play for PSP.

Not only can you watch your favourite shows live and in superb quality while you're abroad, you can record channels and watch them back later. In summary, you can do everything with your PSP that you could do if you were sat in front of the TV at home.
Remote Play allows you to take control of your PS3 from your PSP, so the advantages aren't restricted to PlayTV; you can watch movies or listen to music saved on the PS3 system's hard drive and even play games that support the feature.

Went into Toys R Us in Watford. Surprised to see they have four of this in-stock. Can't afford it myself but thought it might be of interest to all the new PS3 slim owners.

Been this price for a while. National deal.

Don't know why it's been voted cold, this is a good price and a must have addon for the PS3.
#4
HI.
can i just ask is there a HD version coming out soon?
#5
Does anyone have this? Would they recommend it?>
suspended#6
Works with the slim then?
#7
I saw this for 59.99 reduced in Game today...
#8
Can anyone advise whether it's worth having considering the power consumption of the PS3?
#9
I would imagine these will become a lot cheaper once freeview HD starts in November/December.

Cheers, Des.

You plug the Aerial cable into this device and then this plugs into the USB socket in the PS3. You need to be in an area that can receive Freeview.

question - why will this bevome cheaper when HD freeview starts being broadcast? personally, i doubt we'll see much of a price drop til after xmas on this, although i can imagine that other retailers might come down to the £40 mark.

Great little add on to the PS3, works well. You would have thought that they would have included it in the new model?
#18
Brad - It's only really functional in Europe, so that would mean including a lot of unnecesary hardware in PS3s sold in America, or making different configurations for each region.

One thing i can't understand is why they've kept at wireless G netowrking - ok, so N isn't technically finished yet, but they could have put two wireless tuners in, and then updated it through firmware surely? Wireless G is never gonna be fast enough to stream HD content.

Its also £39.95 at John Leiws however they are out of stock at moment but instore was the same price as i bought one.

Does anyone know what channels you get, I like the idea of this however tried the demo of it and it was crap, had nothing interesting that I could find, is the real thing different, is so the demo was pointless, made me think twice about it!
#21
umm, the demo is just a demo. it doesn't actually pick up any freeview channels.

it depends on the region you are in, but it is by far and away the best freeview reciever i've seen - my mate with Play TV has more channels than anyone i know, and thats with a fairly ordinary TV aerial. if you use your PS3 as a video player already, it's well worth it - but it is more power hungry than a cheap freeview box.

tried to call the local branch to see if they had it and got cut off after the phone was picked up (heard them in the background). called again only to be left holding on for 15 minutes whilst i listened to some music at which point i gave up. c*** company and i hope they go down the bucket.
#23
ok thanks, my tv has freeview built in but I am only using a standard aerial at the moment so it sucks, is there any point in this if I have the ability to use freeview (will buy a better aerial later).

it wont give you anymore channels than you have already but it has the best guide I've seen on any free view receiver(uses hd display) and you also have the ability to record things to the ps3 hard drive to watch later.
