For anyone else unclear, this for a pack of two old non-rumble PS3 controllers. The fact that it is on pre-order doesn't mean it's the forthcoming UK release of the DS3 (which does have rumble) controller. It's simply because the twinpack of old controllers itself is the new product being released.

For those that don't mind not having rumble or if you want to expand your PS3 to 3 or 4 multiplayers on the cheap then this is a great deal

Guess you can use the £2.50 off voucher too if you still have it. Although should we assume these will drop in price again when the DS3 come out?

Was it true that someone sued Sony over the vibration on a dual shock controller? Maybe that was just a crazy rumour!

It's true, both Microsoft and Sony were sued 'for patent infringement for the use of vibration functions in their gaming controllers.'

I think it was a company called Immersion which have a patent for force feedback, or something like that.

Great deal, thanks!

Ive viewed this site for ages, and only managed to register today, Is the match thing still going on for a Amazon voucher??

No it wasn't, it was a company called 'Immersion'. Microsoft did the smart thing and settled out of court.

Quite temted by this deal. Would prefer a DS3 though but I imagine they'll be around £30-35 for one!

Quick, buy it fast so Sony can run out of stock and bring out the controller they should have released originally and sell you it for another £35.

Voted hot as good deal...but is anyone else annoyed that most games don't supports split screen multiplayer anymore, only online multiplayer (COD4, GTA4 etc).

I miss the days of playing Golden Eye etc on the same screen as my mates. Now when i play online, I play in my house & my mates have to play at their home

If you want a dual shock 3, just buy one from yesasia. It's only £30 (or ~£28 if you use quidco), works on UK PS3 & will probably cost £35 when released officially here in 6+ months/years/decades (when Sony finally deems the UK can have them)

Couldnt agree with you more, whats the point of pushing multiplayer and family games when you cant play with someone else in the same room? Good deal but think they are clearing them out before the DS3 becomes standard.

I got my PS3 with Duel shock from hong kong about 8 months ago it brillant! .... The only game what has support for the rumble so far is rachet and clank: tools of destruction.

If people are moning about it on here - why dont you just get one from hong kong, and stop whinging? and it was only about £30 delivered.

I got mine from yesasia months ago and it was 35 quid then. Frankly anyone with access to this site and web should be looking at DS3 controllers, unless you are indeed solely tempted by price. btw DS3 is supported currently on most titles not just rachet. GT5P, grid, haze, tbh pretty much every game.

Still this deal voted hot.

Most games on playstation 3 support rumble, not just ratchet.

Folklore*
Formula One Championship Edition*
Go! Sports Ski*
Grand Theft Auto IV
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Haze
Heavenly Sword*
High Velocity Bowling
Lost: Via Domus
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
MLB 08: The Show
MotorStorm*
Pain*
PixelJunk Monsters
Piyotama
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Snakeball
Super Stardust HD*
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection*
Timeshift

Most PSone/PS2 games that originally supported rumble (including those downloaded from PSN) are supported by DualShock 3.
Games marked with an asterisk require a patch, sign in to the PSN and launch the game to update it.

Couldn't agree more, however, COD4 does have split screen multiplayer. You have a choice between, online, LAN, and split.

Ironic that as sony are phasing these controllers out, microsoft are working on there own "motion sensitive" controller......

The DualShock3 includes the Sixaxis motion control, it does not replace it with vibration, it adds it.

That's great! I was getting mixed up with co-op multiplayer which is supposed to be missing. I haven't got COD4 yet  but having split screen is a nice plus

damn you HUKD, i must resist this and wait for the dualshoock 3 controllers to release in uk

heat and rep added, a bargain, use it with the HUKD voucher to get even better deal.

Absolutely. What irks me even more is that for the games that do have splitscreen, pretty much most (not all) of the time you won't be getting any CPU players in the mix. i.e. it's just you and the other player on a nice big open map/track.

If anyone can recommend me decent split screen enabled games (whether it's co-op or full on multiplayer) with CPU bots as well then it would be much appreaciated. PS3 or X360 titles are welcome

If you use the £2.50 voucher below AND quidco, it works out about £25ish

Why wait months for the official release? The official Sony release will never launch for less than £30

100% on the mark. The rrp here will be this high anyway, why wait? The controllers are entirely english.

Makes no difference what version controllers you buy, the only difference is the packaging, get the cheapest possible :D

Depends what sort of games you like but on the Xbox 360 off the top of my head you could play Moto GP 07, 2 player and bike bots, I'm pretty sure you can Gears in story mode split screen 2 player with bots, rainbow six vegas, and GRAW2. etc in co-op offline against bots

Absolute insanity buying non-rumble controllers for the Ps3 at this point. The lack of rumble at launch was a major short-coming of the Ps3 and having played the games without, and then with the rumble it's so much better with.

Isn't it ironic that what you have stated that MS are working on motion sensor controls are so far nothing but rumors..

But looking at the specs if they are true I will buy 2 -

"controller is fundamentally like the Wiimote in design, with a USB-powered sensor bar and "rumble motors, wireless two way data communication with the 360, a built in Microphone for Xbox Live and voice-activated games"

Sounds good to me oh and here is a bit of MS in "1998" talking about their motion sensor and dual shock wheel and pads -

I.e
SideWinder Freestyle Pro is a radical new free-motion PC game controller that uses sophisticated solid-state motion-sensing technology to deliver immersive, intuitive, proportional (sometimes referred to as analog) PC game control in supported games. Gamers control onscreen action along the X-axis by tipping the device left or right, and along the Y-axis by tipping the unit forward or backward. SideWinder Freestyle Pro is the first game controller to provide universal control, simultaneously delivering the proportional (analog) flexibility of a joystick and the digital precision of a game pad. The SideWinder Freestyle Pro gives gamers freedom of movement in a wide variety of joystick- and game pad-compatible game genres, such as arcade-style flying and driving.

In its motion-sensing mode, the SideWinder Freestyle Pro is a great match for many arcade-style drive-and-shoot and fly-and-shoot titles in which gamers maneuver vehicles within a 3-D landscape while aiming head, body or weapons.

I'm playing Uncharted at the moment, and the DS does add a lot to the game. I think as 2nd/3rd/4th controllers these Amazon double packs are well worth it though - and you can use your £2.50 voucher on them -

EDIT: Just seen that someone has already put up a list - sorry. I'll leave this up though as it covers future releases too.......

Exactly, I have 1 White DS3 for myself, and 2 sixaxis (1 came with the PS3, the other I bought after I got a DS3 for multiplayer games).

I would have definantly got this deal but I only need 1 more pad. There really isnt anypoint buying more then 1 DS3. To my dislike most games are only 1player/online. A DS3 pad isnt going to add anything to games like Pro Evo/Fifa where you need more then 1 pad.

Hey,

You can get Halo 3 and Gears of War, both have multiplayer campaigns. GRAW is a great tactical shooter that has an expansive multiplayer (with bots if you wish). It all depends what you're into. Most sports sims are multiplyaer/co-op.

Seems a bit crazy buying these now. They're only going to get cheaper as they desperately try to get rid of their surplus. That's assuming they don't continue screwing Europe for another 6 months... because they can.

Yep, already got Halo 3 and GOW and they are indeed great for co-op. I've also got R6Vegas and will look into getting R6V2 eventually. I'm into most genres really but a good driving arcady driving game with split-screen and bots at the same time would go down a treat. Before you ask, I've already got Mario Kart for the Wii

Im still looking for that elusive title, I know Motorstorm 2 will have this, but that wont be released till end of the year.

I was hoping Grid would have it, but I dont think it will.
