Is this instore also??
If so can you not buy £100 worth of gift vouchers, twice, so that you get the free £10 voucher for £100 spend.. This giving you £220, then you only need to pay £25 quid on top.

Making it a total cost of £225..

Hope that makes sense.

I like your thinking - but it looks like you don't get the voucher for buying gift cards.
12 # This offer is not available with the purchase of Argos gift cards.

Still a good deal. Heat and rep added to OP, and rep to Spud for the idea which unfortunately probably won't work! ;-)

******, Im pretty sure you could do it the last time they ran the voucher promotion. must have gotten wise to it.

It wasn't that. It was in the T&Cs anyway but the old tills didn't know any different from a washing machine to a gift card so it still asked the cashier to issue a gift card. It shouldn't have been handed over but some Managers are lenient. The modernised tills we now have won't allow for that.

Slim or Chunky? which is better (apart from the GB's) .Will the chunky one play PS2's? and who thinks the chunky one will fall in price now that the slim kate moss model is available?

Nope :( Anything £100 and over is capped at £10
#11
A long time ago the threshold was £200 and you got a £20 voucher but of course that's been lowered to £100.
#12
I suppose you could buy something for £100, get your voucher, then return it, using the refund plus voucher towards PS3. Seems a lot of work but if your that way inclined.

I did this with a TV few years ago does work:thumbsup:

currys will price match and give another 10% discount

The voucher thing used to work - I did it a few times during the Great Wii Famine of 2007 - but Argos got wise to it last year and AFAIK no longer give the £5 and £10 with the purchase of giftcards... shame.

Only if they have exactly the same package and only a discount of 10% of the difference.

That won't work here. The deal has to be the exact same and it's 10% off the difference, not total.

EDIT: Sorry, just saw the previous post.

Just got this deal yesterday - sweet. £235 effectively for a PS3 and 2 games, gotta be one of the best deals so far.

According to a previous post Argos ask for the voucher back
when you return something

EDIT Also Quidco is of no use here as it's only paid on home delivered
Argos orders. Delivery is £5.80 quidco is only £3.67 so it's best to pick
it up from a store.........

do the Argos accept returns on consoles? that the question :whistling:

No they do not ( just had a read )
Also they seem to be asking for the voucher back on returns
they do accept............

Please note all video games consoles are excluded from the Argos 30 day money back guarantee. Please ensure you read the specification on the box before installation. We also cannot accept back video gaming software under our 30 day money back guarantee if the plastic wrapping has been unsealed – this does not affect your statutory rights.

Argos rumbled the gift voucher loophole the after the 2007 christmas promotion although a few stores slipped through the net and unknowingly allowed a few people to buy the £100 in vouchers and get the £10 gift voucher in the next promotion they had; I'd be suprised if anyone will get away with it again.

I would be suprised too but if you are going to buy this package
anyway you have nothing to lose buying £100 of vouchers to see
if it works.........

Except for buying with cash means something happens and you get a refund in cash and if you buy with vouchers you get a refund in vouchers.

This works, it means u would have spent £234.69 but would have NO vouchers left. Most people would just use the voucher at a later date neway, saving £10 so might not be worth the hassle.

Argos should NOT accept returns on consoles but if the seal is intact then it is up to the discretion of the staff/manager. But if you were refused a refund then you don't have a leg to stand on as it is exempt from return.

Argos do not do refunds on consoles according to their T&C's
and if it were faulty I presume most would want an exchange
so the vouchers would not be an issue...........

So...im confused! Is there a Sony warranty to contact if the ps3 breaks?

Yes you are probably better off dealing
with Sony instead of Argos if you have
a faulty one.......

Yeah, Argos will direct you to Sony as they do not have the services to diagnose a faulty PS3. Same applies to Xbox's and Wii's.

If it breaks within 30 days of purchase, most stores will replace it for you but after 30 days you will need to contact the manufacturer.
#32
Voted hot. Think the next plan is to take the 2 games into HMV and hopefully get some money for them or store credit and get a decent game.
#33
seems like a good deal.

Hi all,

Got mine today, good deal, not opened the box yet, just been reading on avforums about the noise problem.
Not sure wether to take it back or try it.
If I open the box. Argos won't take it back or exchange it.

As previously mentioned they do not give you the
30 day money back guarantee on Consoles.
So open or sealed they do not have to take it back.....

Not true at all - your warranty is with Argos - it's not your fault if they don't have the means/staff to test it, you're entitled to a replacement from them.

Spot on  Your transaction (and thus contract) was with Argos.

Once again, question: Fat vs Slim? Pros and cons and which would YOU choose? :?
#40
Having bought the fat 80gb one, does anyone know if the blinking light of death (as seen on watch dog) affects all ps3's or just the earlier 40gb & 60gb ?
