HOT from me

hot from me
#4
Voted hot from me but i feel sorry for people including myself who preorder only for another better deal to come along and then cancelling the previous order can sometimes be a struggle. The sad thing is you will see this same system for £200 at xmas.
#6
WOW~~~It is hot ! And the price will keep going down:w00t:
#7
Great price but I want the uncharted 2 bundle more so I will wait for that to appear.

EDIT: Just realised this is released after uncharted 2 so i have pre ordered this for £256.49 [5% RAC] & will pre order the uncharted 2 special edition from game while i wait to see how much the uncharted 2 bundle will cost. :)
#8
Great deal, bloody annoying for us that got the 120Gb less than a month ago!
#9
heh yeah, and i remember when sony slagged off MS for confusing the consumer with multiple sku's!

good price for this bundle, but tbh i'd wait a month or two to see how prices/deals look in the run up to christmas.
#10
A ps3 bundle with only movies and no games is lame. Cold

I was lucky and managed to send the 120gb PS3 back just in time although I was £12 out of pocket for delivery. It annoyed me that all these new deals were flying around. I think if you can its probably best to hold on a month or two and watch the prices.
#12
Play always have home console offers. So tempting to get the slim
#13
This is 25 quid dearer than the argos launch deal for two blu rays a remote but no game :(
#14
That's a stonking deal !

Voted hot, if only because
(a) I want one
(b) it'll prevent anyone buying a regular 120Gb version before this version gets released, then feel ripped off.

Some people make me laugh.

Yes, you could have waited for it to get a bit cheaper, or waited until christmas for bundle deals, all I know is that while you're waiting for it to get cheaper I've been playing on mine enjoying the console now not later.

If you lot keep waiting for it to get cheaper the PS4 will be out by the time you decide to buy it

Don't forget the hard drives are easily upgradable, my 40 Gig PS3 was upgraded to 320Gb in about an hour, the drive itself was £50 from Play. Though the extras thrown do make these look like a good deal, just remember the new slim version doesn't actually do anything new, in fact it does less (no installing Linux and no BC still), if you want a real bargain have a look for some second hand old models when people trade them in and bump the hard drive up yourself.

Though if you like the look of the slim and want less hassle Hot deal

The ps3 slim can do things the phat ones can't like Bit stream Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio to your amp & is also quieter which helps for watching movie's. It also uses around half the power of the original ps3 60gb.

Not so.

The PS3 is still one of the best blu ray players on the market. This bundle is aimed squarely at the blu ray enthusiast, and not at the games market.

So for me, its scorchio. You'd pay nearly £50 for the extras alone.
#19
Ppl should remember that ps3 hardrives are easily replacable and upgradable and can be used as portable back up hdd's in the future there is very little value loss in the differences in sku's!!!! seriously the 120gb extra is worth £25-£30 reflected in a deal like this.

The 120gb is still top value.

If you want to replace ur old hdd in ur ps3 and then use the harddrive as a backup get one of these:

cheap and very useful.

I don't think thats correct. Most of these things are taken care of with a firmware update.
You need to use HDMI cable and have an amp to handle it. I don't have the amp for it and don't watch Blue Ray movies much so not bothered yet.

I like that the slim is quieter and uses half or two thirds power of Phat.

probably, but then maybe i don't want to overspend on a console just because it's new out?

i've got a 360 and a Wii already, so i am in no rush to get a PS3, so the fact i'd rather wait to see how the prices drop before christmas to see if i can save a bit of money is just common sense.

not everyone lives by a "gotta have it now, now, NOW!" mentality :P
#24
hot! but if they're pushing them this much now then i'm expecting some cracking deals at christmas! (hopefully star trek will come bundled on blu-ray by then too!)
#25
Nice - might be time for me to finally take the plunge...

The ps3 phat still does lossless audio its just that the ps3 is doing it rather than the amp.

I believe the release date for the 250 gb Slim is oct 1st. I'm not sure if it's just play that haven't updated it yet cos at game its oct 1st. :whistling:

Edit: Well play have updated it on their 250gb Slim but not on this offer??? Weird....

Yes but older amps don't decode lossless audio so for those that have older amps this is a great plus as your not forced to upgrade your amp to get the most out of the audio.

Nobody buys a PS3 for games.

I stand corrected.
What I gather from the article is that PS3 Phat still handles True HD, but Slim does it better with bit streaming. Not that most people will tell the difference.

Slim also good for Bravia TV owners

If you've got a reasonalby modern amp then the slim ps3 will make no difference but if you have an older amp then the slim is handy for true hd sound (like the difference between dvd & blu ray sound).

Not sure what the bravia sync thing is though (don't have a sony tv so never looked into it)

Surely what comes with the ps3 isn't really as important as the price ?. You could buy a ps3 slim 250gb from shopto for £250 or get 2 blu rays & a sony remote for an extra £6 (obviously you could sell them to cex or gamestation for £30 or maybe more on ebay).

If you choose to sell the blu rays & remote you still have a ps3 slim 250gb for less than £230 which is the cheapest you can buy a 120gb slim for.
The other great thing is by the time this bundle is about to be released the uncharted 2, fifa 10 or maybe even a modern warfare 2 bundle will be slated for release with price tag's & you can just cancel this for another bundle more to your liking.

:thumbsup:DONT DO IT.....

Do you want to play your games at 720p max res??? like, killzone 2 infamous tiger 10 dirt 2 need speed shift, and no doubt fifa 10 If you answer yes the buy a ps3.

If you want true hd support go XBOX 360.

Not my opinion its fact check the ps3 game cases next time your in the shop.

Or just buy a better TV that has no problems upscaling 720p to 1080i or 1080p or make sure you only select 1080i or 1080p from the video setup menu on ps3.

Wouldn't an older amp be more likely to handle the linear PCM from the phat than the bitstream from the slim? Obviously either could send linear PCM if required but I don't see how the slim has any advantage with an older amp.

Mark.

Not a bad statement to be honest. Sony are marketing it well at the moment, built-in blu-ray, iPlayer, PlayTV, it might well sell to casual gamers, especially this package with the remote included!
#39
Well, as I am in the market looking for a Blu-ray player, this seems good value to me, so just placed my pre-order - Playing games is a bonus, as was expecting to spend £250 on the BD Player anyway!

I already have an XBox 360 Elite/Wii etc, and my Onkyo 607 AV receiver will just love the signals from the PS3 :)

So, do any of the 10% voucher codes work?
