Why? Please explain. If you use the PS3 as a BR player or a media centre it's invaluable!

The ps3 controller provides the same functionality as the remote.
#17
The remotes not **** or "carp", far from it - much nicer and easier to use than the controller when playing media or using play tv. The thing which is **** though is sony not including a IR receiver on the PS3, which makes this the only complete option in regards to a remote. The only option for those with universal IR remotes atm is a bluetooth to IR converter which involves cracking open this remote and using its internal controller to convert the IR commands from a remote to bluetooth commands which the ps3 responds to - not a cheap option though!

Overall good price if you can find one, must for anyone who uses their ps3 for media!
#18
one off. but still a good find.

Try having a sense of humour....and lighten up.

And the normal method of censorship is to bl**k out characters - That way people wont think you have made amusing spelling mistakes and make light hearted but good-natured jokes about it.
#21

Why is this 300 degrees?
'Carp' deal. Cold. Wish I could vote 'very cold'.

Cobblers:

All buttons turn console on - how is that a con - if you are using the control chances are you are going to want to use it for the purpose it was built for?
No off button - You can power it off in the same way you would using a controller,
Battery goes quicker - how does it go quicker, surely a controller in constant use for gaming will require charging more frequently.
Uses a controller port: The PS3 doesnt have 'controller ports' its next gen.. you can charge it up via pc if you choose not to use one of the PS3s usb ports.
An actual 'Con' would actually be lack of a backlight

I have a remote, two PS3's and a 360:thumbsup:

I think both consoles are tops and I ain't no fanboy:)

well, i have never changed the batteries in mine, and it gets used most days to watch movies with. It's far more intuitive to use than the controller, and allows people who don't regularly use a PS3 (i.e. "friends", if you naysayers are familiar with the term) to use the console. by the way, those batteries have now lasted 8 months, which although less than a lot of remote controls, is quite a while compared to how long the PS3 controller lasts (and the PS3 controller's batery life is fairly impressive anyhow).

This piece of kit is unnecesary, however convenient. If you watch a lot of movies, have friends around, and generally use the PS3 as more than just a gaming machine, it's a great piece of kit to have available.

And yes, it does use up a controller slot, but i have not yet played a game with 7 players on one PS3, and, for that matter, have not met anyone who has run out of slots for controllers. besides, it can be used as a controller (so long as the game only requires 1 analog stick/d-pad). Battling through soul calibur using the bluray remote is an entertaining way to spend 30 minutes or so.

I think what he means by controller port, is a space for a controller to connect. I think the PS3 has can have 7 multiple connections, and the remote takes up one of those. I don't know why you would connect the remote and 6 controllers at the same time though....

all buttons turn console on... yeah I agree...if your pressing buttons on the remote, chances are that it's for a reason. If however you are just moving remotes around the room and press the wrong button, then yeah that sucks a bit (other remotes don't do this)

no off button? yeah that sucks! If I have a remote it's because I don't want to use the controller... so I can't believe that every button turns the damn thing on, but none of them turn it off! rubbish!

cons = lack of backlighting, and the fact that it uses freaking bluetooth forcing you to spend more money on PS3 hardware for an already over priced console the greedy ba5tards...

This is just in one store rather than nationwide I'm guessing...

It does use virtual port 7 though, so you "lose" the allocation for one controller whilst the Official Bluetooth Remote device is registered on your PS3 system.
