I got it the day it came out for my son, i have played it and i find it very very difficult. The aim of the game is survival, you'll need to level up to unlock new items, you literally have to constantly keep eating, so you need cooked meat. To cook meat you need to catch the fish/animal, kill it and cook it on a fire. To get a fire you must get to a specific level to unlock the item to be able to build a fire. You can eat berries but you don't get far eating them all the time. You need to get to at least level 15 before you even think about taming any kind of dinosaur, and when you do it wont be anything decent, you'll need to also feed that as well as you. Its a game which you must spend hours/days/weeks/months on to achieve anything worthwhile.

You'd probably need 5000 hours game time before you can even tame a t-rex, so don't think you can dive straight into the game from the word go.

It's great if you can invest a minimum of 4-5 hours every 3 days. That's the absolute minimum.
You can't just pick it up and play you have to really buy into it. You will die a lot in the early levels. Either through starvation or a trying to take on a Dino with no weapons or armor.
Find a high number server with less people on it. I was on official26 and it was ruined by people placing pillars everywhere to claim territory they were never going to use.
Happy now on a 300 server with about 20 daily players.
Look out for weekends when harvesting is doubled to help you get ahead and level up a bit easier.
Not even started on scorched earth yet.

By the way. My wife totally hates this game and calls it a waste of time and life

Yeah, and when you do die (a lot) you lose everything you have managed to collect. The only way to retrieve it is to find exactly where you died, so you can pick up the rucksack left next to your body. I find it virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find where you last died, the map on the game is awful. This you'll find infuriating.

The trick to finding your inventory sack is also to die using a spear. Often that will be pointing up from your dead body or often prop you up like some dead waymarker!
Also regularly triangulate your position looking at the colored obelisks.
And just work in a small area to familiarize yourself with your neighborhood. Where you can get oil and metal to get higher level items.

You can also edit multipliers so you can tame faster, your hunger etc depletes slower and your XP gained increases quicker. Fantastic game. Played it since day one on the PC, the PS4 port is excellent with a few minor bugs. Also has offline split screen which a lot of games these days seem to lack.

I bought it last night, been playing it since about 1pm, absolutely loving it, never played this type of games before and it's great! Yeah there's a lot of grinding to be done collecting materials but that's what makes the game what it is.. I've died about 5 times so far but now I have a Base built, storage, fire, food and materials, the only problem is I can't find my Base again lol once I've killed a few more dinosaurs I'll be able to make a bed/respawn point. All I'd say is look at YouTube tutorials and you'll soon pick it up.

Good if you like laggy pieces of crap. Watched a friend play for over an hour and the majority of the time it was lagging so bad. Was more like watching a PowerPoint presentation than a game

First time I've played this type of game, usually I'm running around shooting bad guys in battlefield. I'm loving it. Yes it's a little glitchy in some parts but finding out how to craft certain things to be able to craft another is part of the fun.

Brilliant game, play it with my son. Needs a fair bit of investment time but if you're prepared to put in some effort and like dinosaurs then it should do the job! Bought it on day 1 and have dipped into it each day since.

How do people enjoy games like this? No one got time for that when I could be playing games like Titanfall 2 and blowing **** up and getting rewarded for it.

not a very well made beta servers are always full games glitchy as living sin and full of greifers even on pve servers would recommend waiting till the actual release of the game before buying

As for those mentioning about lagging or full servers - yeah it's true SOMETIMES but the thing to bare in mind is that it isn't a finished game, they're still working on all the bugs etc, we're kind of the Guinea pigs.

Having said that I'm on sky broadband at 8mb and I've only had lag 3 or 4 times since getting it.

Full severs, these full up at night.. I'm on now and the official servers are only half full! Even when they are full either keep pressing join for 5 min till you get in or join/host a non dedicated server..

Be warned the games very addictive! I've put 20 hours into the game in just 2 days.. Sad I know but it's too addictive
