When I get a ps4 I'm going to look into getting a Vita to use as a 2nd controller and another screen.. Does anyone do this and does it play okay? Just seems logical to me when controllers are £40+ and you can get a vita for around £100..

My friend does, he says remote play works like a charm and I think some games support it being a 2nd controller, I'm not are about all of them.

I can't comment on how it plays as a 2nd controlller as I don't own one haha, but you can just look at some YouTube videos, my friends says there are no problems.

I have one and use often. You can play any game that supports two players. But downside is that the ps vita doesn't have a native R and L 2 and 3 buttons, so some games are awkward to play. For example playing cod on a vita is harder to run and knife, but say your playing a game and a family member wants to watch TV, you can just carry on playing the game with the vita and it runs smoothly with no issues

Only works as a second screen, no a second controller

It would be more uncomfortable as a second controller. With the buttons being smaller, the rear touchpad being used for shoulder buttons and the actual Vita not being as comfortable as a controller, I'd just stick to a controller for a second pad. Remote play is really good though.

It does work as a second controller as I played co op with my girlfriend on octodad. It is okay but if the connection gets a bit weak it doesn't connect very well increasing the input lag.

I bought a Vita to do the exact same thing. It does work well on remote play but the screen is so small compared to playing it on your TV that it makes the games less enjoyable. Battlefield was very hard to play and as someone has already said the controls are different and difficult. Anyway I have sold mine and going to buy the remote play box they have brought out and will be out in UK this year. Basically you link it to any TV in the house and it will stream your PS4 to that TV plus you use the same controllers and it's going to be £80 which I think is pretty good. I think this is the better choice if all you want to do is to be able to play it when someone else wants the main TV. Hope that helps and makes sense.
