Good price at the moment. Personally sticking with my £39 Amazon pre-order. But heated for the best current price unless time machines have been invented

I managed to preorder the steelbook edition for roughly £36 at the local gameshop here in Croatia. That was the first time I saw something cheaper here than on this site. Also, the steelbook version was £5 cheaper than the regular one so it was a no-brainer. :)

I've ordered, but after watching some preview game play on Youtube I might be too scared to take the disc out of the box when it arrives. oO

Surly it won't be more than £40 in the supermarkets.

The only videos i watched where i constantly fast-forwarded until the end. Not Resident Evil anymore. This seems dead, just like the Hitman franchise. I pity the new generation kids.

This game isn't Resident Evil. No classical characters, no chesy storyline and even the graphics are worse than PS3 version of 6. Now that I have bought Resi 4 I won't need anymore Resi games because its obvious after 4 the franchise fell off a cliff.
#11
Perhaps only Resident Evil by name in this iteration, but the demo was the most immersive thing I've played in a long time. I was absolutely enthralled and terrified, can't wait to play the full game

As for the deal, it's a bit meh, don't see the point of pre-ordering unless it's significantly cheaper than what I'd expect at release.

Sorry, I searched but missed this one.

Given the terrible release date and lack of hype I can see the price dropping like a stone. Will pick it up when it hits the £20 mark around Easter.

It stopped being resident evil when 4 released.

If people consider that resident evil, they must be having a laugh.

This new approach looks interesting, but I've not followed it much as I don't want to be dragged in to the hype and then for it to fall short.

It looks like Resident Evil: The Blair Witch Project edition
#17
personally I think this has good potential...just cos it's not like re1 2 or 4 doesn't make it bad
#18
Yay 15p cheaper than standard release prices.
#19
I'm looking forward to playing through this in vr if my underpants can hack it.
Think it'll be worth hanging back for a price drop though lets face it most games don't stay at £40 very long these days.

Ha, agreed! It's kind of like saying Abbey Road "isn't the Beatles" because it's not like A Hard Day's Night...
#21
still waiting for 30 price point here's hoping
#22
I love this new version, feels more like silent hill, PT anyone? ;)
#23
Can understand why the development team have gone for a more pt and outlast type game, think this is going to be brilliant and at least they are trying to take a dying series into a whole new direction.
#24
The demos in VR were both fantastic. Great atmosphere.

Agree it's not resident evil and I've played them since the first was released but it may be for the better in the end. The series was looking at bit tired.

Isn't this a bit like alien isolation? Except you're hiding from a freaky fella rather than the alien! Not bashing it, looks good and will pick it up but as others have said when it becomes cheaper. £20 will be my bite.

Cheers, I have canceled my order for BASE as I emailed them asking if I would receive it on launch day, but have not heard anything back. Least with Simply Games they say it will be posted 1st Class and 2-3 days before launch day! Woop Woop :p

The reason was because Capcom is too broke to spend the money on a game similar to Resident evil 4, 5 and 6 and also to get that easy cliché Youtuber bait money. Even comparing the graphics of Resident evil 7 to the PS3 version of RE6 its RE6 that looks better.

How is RE4 not a true RE game? You are having a laugh mate. Theres plenty of scary and tense moments in RE4. Did you even play the village, castle and lab levels? You haven't even played it obviously and just jumping on the hate RE4 bandwagon.

I grew up with re1, 2, 3, code veronica and the survival series games. Grew up playing Dino crisis 1 and 2 (2 is amazing btw).

You could've made re4, 5 and 6, rev 1, 2 and called them something else and they would still be good games (accept 6). Actually look at the evil within, it's basically a re4 clone.

Re4 isn't a true resident evil game because it was a reboot. It's a solid game, but isn't resident evil.

It's the same for people saying re7 isn't a resident evil game. It's a further reboot, but again I agree it isn't a true resident evil title.

Because I don't rate re4, 5, 6, revs 1 and revs 2 well I must be following a band wagon?

Oh, and yes I've completed 4, 5, revs 1 and 2 and played a few levels of 6 before the buggy mess broke.

Whether you like it or not RE4 is very much a Resident evil title and even if it wasn't its still the best game in the franchise and one of the best games all time. Most of the Resident evil games with the exception of RE remake, RE2 and RE4 are average games at best anyway so saying it isn't a true RE doesn't say much.

Classic resident evil is a survival horror game. Has the jump scares, the puzzles, the iconic green herbs and ink ribbons. It's a game were ammo is rare but the guns seem plenty. Planning ahead when to use what and making best of a bad situation. (saving the shot gun and the 6 rounds for the up and coming boss etc).

Nothing comes close to re2 where you pick Leon or Claire and complete the game to unlock scenario B, which is a whole different look at the same story you just did.

Resident evil 4 is the game where items were in pretty good supply. Hell if you ran out you just purchase more "what'cha buying?"

The jump scares (I don't remember any), the zombies (nowhere to be found?), the story (was solid for a non re game). The action gameplay was what changed the game completely. It is nothing like the classic resident evil games which makes it not a re game. It's the same for 7, change the gameplay it's just a different game with the same branding.

To say re4 was the best in the franchise, was it your first re game you played? Usually the way it works, people play 4 first then the others in a random order
Love 4 because it was their first game in the series.

I personally dislike 4, 5, 6 and the two revs. And then evil within because it's identical to these games (closer to 4). But that's because I enjoyed the hard classics from the 90s.

RE4 has jump scares, puzzles, the green herbs and the ink ribbons as well. Did you even play it or just lying? Theres plenty of scary moments like the lab level which there are invincible enemies as normal bullets won't kill them and its very tense with great atmosphere and music and I can confirm this as I'm literally playing it on the PS4 for the past few weeks.

Old school RE fanboys like you don't realise just how important was that RE had to change after all those classic RE games were getting very stale and predictable and even the devs didn't want to make any in those exact style or the franchise would have died.

It is very much a RE game. It has two of the main characters of RE2 ffs. Also the old school RE games had their fair share of action as well. I remember quite clearly using a mingun and rocket launcher in RE2 so don't mislead people claiming they were pure survival horror.

And yes RE4 is one of the best games ever whether you like it or not and I have played almost every RE game and looking back only RE remake, RE2 and RE4 were great games, the rest were either average games or just awful. Deal with it.

It baffles me how many people go on about RE4 or even 2 being the best games out there in the series. Grew up with the entire series, enjoyed them all as games except 6 which was just plain awful even as a standalone game and to me Code Veronica will always be the perfect RE game
