Zavvi have been doing this deal on and off for a few weeks. It is a repost, but I thought it may be worth reposting incase someone missed out. Mine arrived this week and I was impressed by this little gaming device. Although it does take Sony a few weeks to provide you with the 10 free games code :@

Good deal for this.
Really want to buy a PSP to play Monster Hunter Portable again, and I like the look of the Go, but I think I'll leave it as I can see myself never playing it again :(

As predicted by anyone with half a brain and a bit of common sense (ie everyone other than Sonys new product department) - the PSPGo is a complete and utter fail.

The MAIN reason is that in effect you are paying DOUBLE for a game.....

Why i hear you say?....well, with any other console, you buy a game for say £30....you play it, then SELL it on for arguments sake £15......so the game has cost you £15 in effect.....with the PSPGO, you by it for £30 and errr.....thats that.....you cant sell it on so its cost you full whack and DOUBLE what it should.

Im genuinely AMAZED that Sony thought these would take off???? gross error of judgment on their part and hopefully its cost a few people their jobs for being so short sighted

Afraid that's how things are going: lovefilm streaming on PS3 (no way to give it to your neighbours so they can watch it before you return the DVD to Blockbuster), app stores for smartphones, iTunes store and other MP3 stores (no way to sell on those MP3's)...

In the future we won't physically own anything, we'll just have a limited license to consume the content which prohibits selling it on. Content providers prefer this approach: no costs for physical distribution, easier to spot piracy etc. and apart from the app store you cut all the middlemen out so can bring down costs.

A valid point, but not everybody wishes to sell their games after they have played them.

It's a great idea in some ways, as in you don't have to carry around any UMD's, just the console, so it's very convenient.
Also the free game offer means you basically get a free console due to the value of the games. You don't get that with a normal PSP.

Also you don't need to pay full price for the downloadable games, as you can usually buy a £20 PSN card for about £16 or less. So you can save about 25% on most games.

i didnt hear anyone ask why...;)

but i agree with you!
also, it costs them less to supply the game via the psn store, no packaging/shipping etc and they get to make all the profits themselves instead of sharing with the shops.
im not amazed tho. theyre probably losing a LOT of money due to pre-owned buying.
why do you think theyre doing so much DLC for games? some games have DLC on litterally weeks after release. why wasnt it on the disc in the first place??

[...some games have DLC on litterally weeks after release. why wasnt it on the disc in the first place??

Because the price would then be £5-£10, maybe up to £15 more, & you then wouldn't buy the game at all, or because the publisher asked the development team to meet a specific delivery date or a budget & in order to do that aspects of the game were removed (or shortened) for later reinstatement to suit the player's preference.

fair points about gaming and such
how is this devise as a media player etc
#15
A dead platform now.

Wait for the PSP2
#16
Would people not prefer a Ipod Touch over this ?
#17
remember, that Sony will take 30 days or more to send you the online voucher to get your free games. I've got to chase them next week as that makes it's 30 days waiting for mine. Still like the device and as a media player it's a nice screen. Download Iplayer to mine.

valid point. but i dont think a game could ever get 5-15 more expensive on release date, no one will pay more than 40 for a top title on release day. so they hold it back, and squeeze that 5-15 out of you at a later date.
and what about games like Bad Company 2, where you get a "VIP" code if bought new to unlock features on the disc. if you buy it second you dont get to access them. unless you buy a new VIP code. and this isnt even dlc, this is stuff already loaded on the disc. you just cant get to it!!
or UFC where you need a code to go online. if you buy it second hand, you need to buy a new code also.

Because an Ipod Touch is not a dedicated gaming device.
#20
surely someone sooner or later will allow you to run homebrews on this (if they haven't already). That will certainly increase the appeal.

Word of warning, it is a tad small if you have giant ape hands like me.

what firmware comes on these?

I dont know what the latest firmware on the device is, but it will immediately update when you connect it to the net for the first time.

No way the PSP is miles better as its dedicated to games
#25
Can you modify the firmware on this version on the PSP?
I heard you can so that you can play video files directly from a memory stick.
#26
I don't think the PSPGo has been hacked as yet
#27
Ordered one of these last week and the courier DPD have just made a mess of this. I arranged for a redelivery since I knew I would be at home today and they haven't even put it on the van according to their tracking website. Rang the depot and nobody knows where it is. There's always a catch - and this is it. If you can, order to your work address I'd say. Why can't they just use Royal Mail...

Dont bother wait for the psp phone pencilled in for a feb 2011 release but i have to admit psps are rubbish wait for the 3dsi if you want a handheld
#29
Hello,

PSP2 is about a year away, long wait.

PSPphone, I have heard a rumour that it wont play all games. They need to be converted to run on it.
#30
Hot.
Tried using the Quidco link and the Quidco ebay Zavvi outlet voucher code for a further 10% off, but ebay message says the code does not apply to this product. Still a very good price.

I got one the last time it was at this price and I'm impressed with the quality of it so far but I'm still waiting for my 10 free game code. The only thing i don't like is that the psn store doesn't have the best selection of games and a lot are over priced.

I'm soooo tempted by this but I keep thinking it will drop further. If it gets to a 1-er then I'm in.
