Sainsbury's were giving them away free last night at Warren Heath, Ipswich store. Don't know if all Sainsbury's are though.

They're not eating pumpkins they're carving pumpkins. What use are they bin? Retailers should chuck them in the compost.

They're carving pumpkins. Different flesh. Not poisonous, but not a nice taste. Eating pumpkins are smaller and different in colour.

Well, that and the fact they're not good for eating. (_;)

I heard a radio programme yesterday. The farmers were saying these pumpkins are perfectly edible. I bought 5. Made soup last night. Beautifully sweet and smooth. Tastes just like butternut. Go on... give it a try. :)

you can eat the carving pumpkins, slice and roast it in s bit of oil like roast potato's but in slices, dice and add to a stew, make a pumpkin soup or become an American and make sweet pumpkin pie with cinnamon, so much you can do. Tip place in a microwave for 90 seconds or more then use a potato peeler, much easier to peel.

Ah... wonderful idea. :) It is quite time consuming to prepare. Thanks for sharing this tip. Might just buy some more now. X)
