I saw this offer instore - and just need to save up to get the ipod touch (ends on 17th Oct). Thanks to samildanach for giving more info to me on the make of speaker dock.

You can get a 5th Gen ipod nano, £10 voucher and dock for £118.

And ipod touch 4th gen (latest), £10 voucher and dock for £189 (thanks to samildanach for this info).

Im not sure how much of a deal this is - hence me posting it. If it gets cold that means i know not to bother buying it.

Did they actually have the 4th generation iPod Touch in stock? I've seen it only at Best Buy Aintree at the grand opening (and that was 8gb only). Everywhere else seems not to have any.

Assuming you can buy it, this is hot.

im not sure wether to get it or not. I want to buy an ipod touch as a gift for christmas and am not sure whether i will get better deals closer to christmas or not. Also what is the liklihood of hmv still selling the older 2009 model nearer to christmas - as they may by then just be selling the newer model in store.

Which gear4 speaker dock is it?

What's the usual retail price?

I'm wondering this as well. The cheapest gear4 dock on the HMV website is £39.99. I can't imagine them giving those away... I'd be expecting something worth £10-£15.

None in stock in my local store. iPod stand was totally empty, staff just said they didn't know when they were getting any.

i know its not much help. but the gaer 4 speaker dock was either 29.99 or 39.99 - probably the £29.99.

i saw the offer but was in a rush so didnt spend too much time looking at the details.

Just checked in-store today. It's the Gear4 StreetParty3, RRP £39.99. Mixed reviews on Amazon but it looks adequate enough.

s_paul: I don't think you'll see a better deal on a 4th generation iPod Touch before Christmas. Sellers don't tend to discount them much from the Apple selling price, and I don't see Apple doing a price drop until after the new year.

As for the 2009 Touch, I don't really know. Maybe there'll be some decent clearance deals, maybe not.

Cheers for the info.

Looks to me like best deals are at Asda £243 for 32gb with 8% quidco

is it itunes voucher?

Why does it matter? If its a HMV voucher just buy a £10 iTunes voucher with it? :\

My daughhter bought the Ipod touch, 8gb 4th gen in the Stirling branch today and got this deal. The docking station costs £39.99 in Argos, and a £10 HMV gift card, so it was a £50 deal, she's well chuffed!

Apple doesn't drop the prices on its iPods, they simply update them (every September).
#16
The dock might be a deal maker if you're wanting one anyway but as a sell on they don't really have much value.
#17
i know iv asked this before - but is it really worth paying £40/£50 more for the new touch model?

im looking to get the older touch model with the speakers and £10 voucher for £140/£150 - thats if i cant get enough cash before it ends

iPod price drops have been known in the past. Anyway, my point was that it isn't very likely to happen.

No they haven't, apart from when they're refreshing the range.

I've just upgraded my 2nd generation iPod Touch (whose headphone socket was dodgy) to the latest version, and it's pretty damn lovely.

The camera/video quality is nothing to write home about, but it seems a lot faster, the display is now sharp enough to read (Amazon Kindle) books on, I'm loving having volume buttons on the side of the device, and being able to double-tap on the home button to bring up a list of icons along the bottom of the screen is very cool.

All in all, the new iPod Touch is as overpriced as ever, and probably not worth a 3rd-gen to 4th upgrade, but it's flippin' lovely. Particularly with this HMV deal.

Mind you, if you can get the Samsung Galaxy 9000 on a decent mobile phone contract, that also has a great OS and screen resolution.

Never seen the point in mp3 players over the last few years. Surely everyone hasa mobile phone now which sounds just as good as an ipod (which dont actually sound that great). My phone has replaced my walkman and satnav.

I went into HMV today and asked about this deal. If you dont want the docking station you can buy other things to the value of £39.99 for your ipod. You can also purchase things above £39.99 like a more expensive docking station and they will deduct the £39.99 from the price.
#24
nah dont bother buy the vastly superior sansa fuze instead
