    Nintendo going all out

people criticise them all the time over the Wii U, but Sony or MS would not do this in a million years, as this is not a crappy game offer, that list is full of Nintendo big hitters

Hate it when people can't just accept a semi decent deal and order the item instead of exploring every avenue possible to abuse the system and get greedy.

Really? Its already the cheapest of the next gen consoles and already has more games than both. What Nintendo actually need to do is market the Wii U. They have the price, they have the games, now they just need to market the console.

Errmm no. Sony & Microsoft are sacking developers left and right, just to turn a quarterly profit. Nintendo on the other hand are constantly hiring developers.

Honestly, if your looking for a fun challenging game pick The Wonderful 101, its a severely underrated Wii U game.

Not sure what free game though

I just viewed the entirity of the game's new presentation video on the eShop and it looks very promising indeed, in my opinion. MK8 may even be so great that it takes the crown back from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed as the best kart racing game. Soooo excited!

the slight difference, especially with the Nintendo 1st party game's is their hold their value, for example Super Mario U is still £30 +

You already said the difference yourself. People that get the free games pay a subscription, which amounts to tens of pounds per year. Also, you don't get to pick which game you buy for free, and the games that are on offer are always without exception games that have receded greatly in price since they were released, and are usually worth 5-15 pounds. Unless you are actually getting a good amount of games you enjoy AND that you don't already own every year, the subscription is not even worth it in the first place, because most of those games are worth very little when they go free on PSN/XBL. In fact, those promotions personally drive me away from buying games on PS3/360 because I know that I can get some of them for free later on, which depreciates their value very quickly.

On the other hand, Nintendo is giving you a choice, including titles that are still worth 30-40 pounds on any retailer, and it's actually free, provided that you buy Mario Kart 8, which is an essential Wii U game anyway and everyone would buy it. You don't pay a subscription, there are no tricks, and the games you are given are not games that you get for a fiver, or even less on Steam. Most importantly, it's a one-of-a-kind deal, and it won't be happening on a daily basis, so you can still feel safe buying games and they hold their value for a long time.

For Zelda I have already played it on GameCube so don't see myself playing it again and for Wonderful 101 I do like a challenge but have such a big backlog of games for my other consoles so I don't think I have time for challenges.

Pikmin is a visual delight and is a joy to play, particularly once it clicks in your head how you can multitask to get more efficient completion times. You might find yourself sinking more time into taking screenshots and posting to Miiverse than you do playing the main game though!

Logged back in and now it says your chosen game is (game name) and the code is XXXXXXXXXXXXX.Now it wouldn't let me redeem the code and I really wanted pikmin 3. Drat. If nintendo don't fix this for me tomorrow I am done with them and they deserve to fail. We spent £49 on one game and got two.

You mean you received a download code for registering a 2nd copy of MK8 to a different club nintendo account but it wouldn't let you redeem it on the eshop after registering the 1st code? Why do they deserve to fail? The bonus game is a free game - that's a good deal considering pretty much everyone who owns a Wii U probably bought or intends to buy MK8 - giving basically everyone who owns the console a free download of some of the best Wii U games doesn't strike me as reason to say they deserve to fail. If you can't register the 2nd code because they only let you register 1 to an account then more fool you for not checking first really. Also what did your last sentence mean - is spending £49 on 1 game & getting 2 a good or a bad thing?

If you don't like playing with the vertical axis reversed then you're good to go, but if you do, then I just thought you should know. I wish I had known beforehand as it's completely unplayable for me.

Great deal by the way OP. Hot. (edited)

Absolutely unbelievable! I was tempted to get Mario Kart 8 at some point and I think this has just made my decision (as I am sure it has for many on the fence).

You can't go wrong with Mario Kart though, loads of fun so to get a free game out of it is the deal of the century!
Now the hard choice of which game to get, as there are a lot of good ones included!!

Hopefully this will boost Wii U sales a little too, if Mario Kart doesn't, especially with a free game then I don't know what will!

Definitely Wonderful 101. Great underappreciated gem. You gotta stick with it for a bit, though, controls get some getting used to, but once you learn them you are golden. Sonic is just... Sonic. Hasn't been that great in ages.

Promotions like this are fairly common. Usually along the lines of register a console or X amount of games to get a free game. Sony have done a very similar thing with Vita through the use of the 10 free games packs and those free games when the service went down on PS3. Microsoft though, do you really think Microsoft will give anything for free? Heck they even have a hard time offering FREE services like YouTube without putting it behind a paywall.
