First Posting - be gentle.
Found a good stock of Pure AV 1.5 metre High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet (Full HD 3D 1080p) in the Luton 99p Stores for ....99p.
This HDMI to HDMI cable has a 15.8Gbps data rate. It supports 1080p and 3D HDTV with Ethernet. It has a 200Hz refresh rate and 4K Cinema Resolution. It has an audio return channel and the cable is manufactured from 99.99% OFHC Copper. Also, the connectors are 24k gold-plated. It is manufactured by Belkin Ltd.
All in all – an excellent cable specification. Have seen these cables at a much higher price in other retail outlets. What more could you want from such a cable for a bargain price of 99p?

I never understood what 'with ethernet' means. Does it mean that a network signal can be transferred between devices using this cable? If so, what is a possible use-case for this?

I'm not 100% what this is all about either, but yes, Network cable can be used to send data over - including for HDMI.

My Home CCTV has a camera that uses Cat 5 cable (Its not an IP camera) which I connect to BNC connectors with Balons.

Network cables can be used to send an Full HD signal over longer distances than an ordinary HDMI cable can.

It's all explained in the Wikipedia entry: "HDMI 1.4 introduces two features called ARC (Audio Return Channel) and HEC (HDMI Ethernet Channel).[79][80][114] These features use two pins from the connector: a previously unused pin and the hot plug detect pin."

A product of Thatcher's education policy? If it had been a penny more it would have been "1£"...

I hope you were amazed not at them but at the ridiculous prices other shops charge because they have convinced the gullible that these things have to be expensive.

Hi Gadgetfr34k - I've now corrected this posting to resolve your reported issue.

Yes, for example. But there will surely be someone deluded enough to retort with "you get what you pay for."

My thoughts exactly - Pedantry of the highest order. :|

Either "pedentry of the highest order" or "an expectation of the literacy levels of at least a 7 year old from an adult." Choose your opinion.

I think you'll find that if it involves numbers, money and decimal points, it's numeracy, not literacy.

Sorry to be pedantic, but it's "pedantry"

Yes, just like every other HDMI cable.

I think you'll find that is debatable. And pedantic. Or should that be pedentic? :3

I get the impression that you'd argue black was white, so go have a mass debate on your own

I get the impression that you know a lot about black things - when they are kitchen utensils.

HDMI thread, just like the old days, almost brings a tear to my eye.

Oh the irony, that pibpob tries to show off his (perceived) intelligence by picking up the poster on something trivial and insignificant - and ends up looking a complete fool in the process - yet he cant (a) copy and paste text from my original reply, (b) cant spell correctly, (c) doesn't know the difference between numeracy and literacy, and then finally doesn't even register the pun in craigstephens last response (very good by the way Craig!).

Thanks to craigstephens and dancleary1 for helping to put this individual in his place - lets hope he doesnt attempt another response, and has now shuffled off back to his cave quietly. :p

I just saw these in the exeter 99p store today and was going to post but you beat me to it. On the back of the box it mentions that there are 3 different specs on this brand. P10- 10.2gbps, P15 (which these are) - 15.8gbps, P21 - 21.0gbps for better than HD quality. All are 3d capable with ethernet. I think these are a bargain. They also do a 3 metre one in store too.

Haven't read the article, but whatever it is, it's your fault for reading the Daily mail! ;)
