Cheapest ive seen shame they arent on the web site
#3
thats a great price, the only place that seems to still be selling them is Morgan Computers, & their price is £57.50 plus p&p for a refurb unit.
I have one of these, its a great radio, recommended

The only problem is the central 'rocker' control button, which works abysmally badly.

Controls were redesigned slightly from The Bug, of which I own...to be honest though, you get used to the central rockers quirkiness.

Fantastic find for anyone at that price its a steal, and one of only a few models that has REVU and SD card recording for timing radio shows with a full EPG.

Got one of these last year for £60, and I thought that was a bargain! Even records! Now I never miss Adam and Joe!

We have one from toys'r'us and love it. It really is a great clock radio and with the SD card function a great way of playing music, just drop your playlist onto a sd card and hey presto, easier and more adaptable than a cd player.
#8
Bug Too has a dedicated off switch I think. The off-switch design of Bug One was so bad I have to switch mine off at the mains. Good radio though if a bit... unsubtle in appearance
#9
Great offer if you can get it. Sadly, none in the Plymouth ToysRus
#10
I've got a bug 1 with the new firmware. Sure the rocker switch is rubbish, but not unusable.

I love my Bug, got it in the kitchen. £20 might get another for erm, er, something.
#11
Given the excellence of Bug 1 in every other respect, and how well designed Pure stuff usually is, I wonder how they managed to create that rocker switch. Was the designer asleep at the time?
#12
brill thanks will have a look
#13
I've been looking for a bedside SD/MP3 player for ages, does this have a sleep function and can this be set to display the time when not playing music?

(I need to be able to tell the time in the middle of the night with glasses off :-D )
#14
Has the original poster got a sku code so i can check stock locally please.

I find the knack with the Original Bug is just to place two fingers on both left and right outer edges of the rocker and click inwards to power it off, that way I find 9 times out of 10 it switches off instead of just wobbling around the place.
#16
I've just popped out and got one these. They had 5 of them in Milton Keynes. What a brilliant radio for the money with great sound quality. I have to say though that it's quite a bit bigger then I was expecting and looks rather large next to the bed and the rocker switch does seem a bit iffy but it's still superb.

I put mine on a corner shelf I mounted specifically for it to sit on, fits perfectly, just got one of those wooden corner shelves from Wickes/B&Q and it fits perfectly

Nice one. That looks just the job.

Cheers, works a treat, can be stained/painted or left as is, and only like £3-4 ideal mine is situated above a bedside cabinet with enough height clearance but allows then stuff to still be put on the bedside cabinet as the Bug takes up too much room as you said, sits nicely between that and the modded Ikea wall unit.

Yes to all the above apart from the MP3 player function, it can and will play MP3s from any MP3 data you put on SD card but it has no line input for attaching an MP3 player, that is about the only thing missing from this wonderful player.

If anything, some people dont like how bright (even on the dimmest setting) the clock is on these on standby.

TBH I was a bit alarmed at first at how bright it was on standby on the default setting, but I thankfully managed to lower it quickly. Even so the lowest setting is still fairly bright.

It is yeah, no different on the older Bug 1 I have, but to be honest it doesnt "bug" me or the wife at night.
#27
We don't notice the brightness and tbh it is always easy to see how much more snoooooozzzzeee time is left in the morning. My wife got to grips with the rocker really quickly, so I leave it to her. The epg is a great feature and the DAB is very clear and is great for the football on saturdays. The way I see it is, when you see what **** clock radio's you get for £20, this is really a PURE bargain.

Thanks! Don't need line in but I've been trying to find something suitable for ages that wasn't ipod related. This might do the trick.

Get a 2GB or 4GB card, and it is really super for recording. One-touch to start or stop recording. Backlight is too bright for me, though, so I leave it off at night. And I still need a separate FM radio as my local BBC traffic reports aren't yet on DAB.

Have you tried it with anything other than a 2GB? According to the Pure website both the Bug/Too only support 2GB and no SDHC cards either.

I only have 2GB in my Bug, dont have any 4GB (non-SDHC) to try.

I've heard this sort of thing before with mobile phones and quite often they apparently say that because they've only tested the unit up to that size of card.

Very true, but these definitely dont support SDHC, therefore has anyone on this forum actually been a test guinea pig and found a 4GB SD (none HC) that has compatibility...or at least own one that they would be willing to try out on their Bug?
#33
If I have a dislike about my Bug is that it always seems to be 'Saving EPG' whenever I want to run the volume up or down or switch the thing off. The whole thing freezes for 30 secs or so and it seems to happen at the oddest times. I get so peeved off with it I switch it off at the mains.

I've had that on occasion. Do you have an SD card in the Bug? If not try taking it out (unless you need it in for recording).

THANKYOU! ..voted HOT!!
Just got 4 for presents / eco useage ...to turn off during the day without losing alarm & radio settings!
brilliant unit I've got the original, I like the rocker you can navigate it easily one handed whilst slobbing around in bed, the volume settings are good for late night listening (not disturbing the other half)

..great design product! ..my 5 yr old will have all her story cds on a memory card via a bug now, less wattage in her room as she won't need an xbox & tv on to play them.
#36
Anyone found any in the NW please?

Just off his rocker

I've just been back into ToyRus a few days after buying the first one and was surprised to find that they had the exact same level of stock with 4 left...so I got another one.:-D
#39
I had all the peterborough ones yesterday ..though there is still one in the display cabinet!

anyone tried bedford?
#40
FYI I got the last one (display) one in Swindon.

It had a small hole drilled in it (pricecard screwed in?) and a (now straightened) bent ariel, but it was still a bargain. Thanks OP.
