I had been looking for a decent DAB radio for quite a while. I was recommended the Pure brand by a friend. I was looking at the Pure Elite model, which was £80, but I found this model for cheaper. The Élan II normally retails over £100. But, I found this for £60 at Tesco Direct.
One of the best features of this, you can pause live broadcast, and then continue when you are ready. A bit like Sky plus.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, this also available at John Lewis at the same price. The Comet price for comparison is £102. So if you did want to buy from Comet they would do price match.

Perhaps many people just shake their head in disbelief at the thought of a radio at £60 being a 'deal'.

That's the thing about HUKD, people post stuff on here to help others who may be looking for this product. If they were going to pay £102 at Comet, like I was, well I'm going to save them £40.

Then they have never owned a 'pure' radio... very, very well made radios.

I'm not a fan of PURE products but that is a good price for that radio, so hot from me.

I see your point, but the links you have posted are all for cd players, which everyone knows can be very temperamental, whether it is the Pure brand or Sony etc.

Well, in 25 years of using CD players I've never had one that couldn't be fixed by a quick session with a lens cleaning disk - apart from my PURE DMX-60; but having said that then yes, hopefully a PURE product that is purely a radio is more reliable. ReVu is certainly a useful feature for skipping the endless Autoglass adverts on Planet Rock. ;-)

The only reason it's a 'bargain' is because of the ridiculously high RRP.

I mean come on... £99.97 for a radio. Someone's having a laugh.

There's plenty of radios more expensive than this, from Roberts or Bose for example.

Not really, before I bought this one, I thought the same as you. So I bought a cheap Panasonic one from Argos for £35 and the sound quality was.. Well let's say 'not very good', and the autotune function did not find many stations. But this one is way better, so if you an avid radio listener, then it is worth the money, and the rrp is about right.

Generally the Pure units (esp with a wooden wrapped casing sonically excel against their & others plastic body variants, typically (except in the really budget models) Pure use good quality drive units, also the usb software upgrades are a boon!
When I had problems / queries Pure have been excellent, this is why I have purchased 10 dab radios of this brand as gifts & for our own home.

The parent company are big technology investors & early adaptors that cheap cruddy chinese / tesco's brands simply try to bludgeon on price, the difference in quality is very apparant.
Try listening to speech on radio 4 compared to a plastic bodied version then a technika or similar..
The rewind / memory card aspect has been most useful too.
Allows my daughter (who has a "pure Bug 2" to wake up in a great mood listening to cbeebies on Radio 7 & record then listen to the story naration later in the day.

..folk are keener to listen if it's good sound reproduction.

Oh forgot to say, the elan 2 uses much less power to drive it than previous models..
they've paid more attention to better quality adaptors, again one of the first to do this.

Excellent company, nice folk to talk to.

Price does not include delivery... This cost needs to be added. Amazon have it for £65 delivered.
I've been looking for a new DAB radio for the kitchen for a while now. When i saw this radio online for i was seriously interested, especially as it has pause, rewind, and an alarm. So i went to comet just to check it out. Surprisingly for Pure the sound is not good. The bass & treble settings make hardly any diffrence and the sound is muddy and very poor quality.
I then listened to the Roberts Ecologic 4. The sound on this blew the Pure outta the water and was far superior, although it has no pause rewind or alarm. Bought this model from Amazon instead.
I would advise anyone to hear the poor quality sound on this this radio before purchasing it.

Forgot to add..... The radio i am replacing is a Pure One Classic, which has failed after two years with not a lot of use.
Pure are not as reliable as some people believe they are. But i think this could apply to all DAB radios compared to the old FM radios which seem to last for donkeys years.

It looks pretty good, I'd prefer the style of the Evoke. The features look good though, stereo speakers, I like the anodized fascia, lets you pause and rewind digital radio for up to 15 minutes, included the charge pack and can use an mp3 player though it

I'd guess my oldest & most used Pure radios are 8 & 6 yrs old respectively, never a days problem between em.
& neither have the folk i've given Sonus versions or Bug versions to..
Our house has at least one often 3 going all day & into the night.
you were unlucky, did you call Pure to see what they'd do for you?

This can be had for £50 now with £10 off a £50 code .

One question , does it have a chargepack included so it can go portable ?
