Did a quick check on google. This is listed at approx 99.99 at other stores. Seems like a good deal but not for me as I am not a radio person myself.

Hope this helps someone.

oops, got the merchant wrong. Posted it as an Amazon deal instead of Argos and the link too is not working. I dont know why?
#2
I think it somehow added the Argos link on to the Amazon one and got it's Y-fronts in a knot.
#4
Great bargain, shame it is so hard to find any stores with it in stock...:x

Just did a check of my local area..and none to be found.

Still hot for those who can get it though, great radio...

Thank you for your post. I have corrected the error, added a new link and pic for you.

It may be worth considering the Pure Evoke 2 refurbished for £52.88 here...

http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/Audio,+Video+&+TV/DAB+Digital+Audio+Products/PURE+DIGITAL/LV-60657/displayProduct.jsp?sku=AV1700105&_requestid=114068

Can run off batteries or mains and has FM and stereo speakers.

EDIT : It doesn't say it is refurbished on the website - but the brochure I received today does and says it has a manufacturer 12 month warranty.

Thanks. Does make it look more like a professional post :)

These are brilliant. I have mine on all day in the kitchen!

I got a refurbished Pure EVOKE-2XT from Ebuyer before Christmas. It only has 6 buttons for presets, and although it has a USB socket for firmware upgrades, these will not let you upgrade to DAB+.
http://www.digitalradiotech.co.uk/dab/intro_dab.htm has more on the background technology

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/technology/archives/2007/05/22/dab_is_on_the_way.html is also worth a read.

Great radio - good price (I got mine for £35)

delivery is £11.75!!!

Whoever designed Argos' store stock checking system needs a good slap. Why can't they just tell you where there IS stock...
#17
Can't find any in East London.
#18
Voted hot as it is a great price, but same old story none in the 10 stores in my area 3 of which are Argos Extra's
#19
I managed to get one from Castle Vale on the 26th December. Great radio.
#20
These have been this price at Argos since January sale started - and have been unavailable at virtually every store for about the same time
#21
Is this still a good deal if so few people can actually buy one?

I wouldnt give 50p for a DAB radio. It's crud now, massively compromised from it's original promises. The audio compression is archaic, the bit rates have got progressively worse, its nowhere near 'CD quality, A decent FM station blows DAB away.

If you love 'radio', and have a wireless broadband, get a Logik IR-100 internet radio from PC World. Possibly the best £50 I've ever spent.

Well I listen to Radio Five a lot, and it's much better on DAB than on MW. If they were selling at 50p, I'd buy one for each room.

Same here, and there is more choice of DAB radio stations than FM stations in my area.

I got fed up of having to have the PC on, the router on, and the internet radio just to listen to radio while having breakfast ... sometimes it isn't always about having the highest quality, its about having something which is accessible.

I like the way the radiotech website goes to great lengths to say how rubbish DAB radio is, and then has lots of affiliate links to buy one.

I kinda, sorta agree :)

DAB is fine if you live in a stong signal area. If you're in a week area (as we are), then DAB is absolute rubbish ... and at 50p it'd still be way over priced :w00t:

Great price but no stock anywhere so cold

Ditto.

I have a 1Xt in the kitchen and I love it.

My hubby bought it from Argos (Snipe Retail Park, Manchester) on Boxing Day for £44 ish.

We've just bought a 2XT for the use around the rest of the house.

agree that decent fm has a better bit rate but if you cant get very good fm reception, then fm is rubbish...same goes for dab......its better to have something that works and DAB works for me, i can hear the football commentary unlike on fm!
I am not a fan of either fm or dab...i have just bought the Pure one, but will see how it performs....the Logik is also very highly rated and if the pure is **** i may have a look (both the pure one and Logik rated 5/5 in what hifi, no rating for the pure 1 xt but all others in the pure xt range received 5/5 also)
