Pure ONE Mini portable DAB/FM radio (with MP3/audio in connector).

Purchased today in store. Only one left on shelf. No SEL. Scanned at £19.34. No others in stock in local branch.

None in either Romford store. Don't know if nationwide or just clearing stock.

This has got to be at least half price.

No, theyre rubbish- and hopefully soon to be phased out.

i have one of these and to be honest i dont think much of it, i wish i had stuck to ald style fm radio as this thing is always losing the signal even with the antenna up full. on the plus sound isnt too bad when you get any and handy that you can plug in your mp3 player and play straight of that (what i tend to do most of the time)

Yeah its only a matter of time- DAB was a massive, expensive mistake and its days are numbered

this model is brilliant - bought it for my husband at double that price from Amazon in October. It got a crystal Radio 5 live signal (and we couldnt believe it) in a little holiday cottage in the middle of deepest darkest Devon. The best radio we've ever had. You can't rewind or pause live music but at that price you wouldn't expect it

sorry are you talking about radios or dirk kuyt?

Dab=marmite technology
if you want to listen to ok sound, talksport/ talking and get a good signal then dab is great. If your a bit of a poncy audiophile type who thinks a little tranny radio should sound like Dolby digital or being there then you won't like dab. Dab won't be going anywhere for years. Dabs+ might make it to the UK but digital is here to stay. I went past Pure's office in Kings Langley today :)

Oi.... Dirky boys a worker.... Pick on one of our other massively expensive mistakes... Mr Babel... He's playing your tune! :)

So are these wireless's good or carp, I'm confused.

Although less confused about Benitez being a sub-standard manager.:whistling:

If you fully extend the antenna, then push it back 24mm and tie a 100mmx10mm ribbon of kitchen foil 6 inches from the base, then you should get optimum reception.

Sorry, but you're talking rubbish. 10 million DAB radios have been sold, retailers are reporting they're now selling more than ever and the car manufacturers are starting to fit them as standard.

I have this radio and find it great for around the house or in the garden. Sound is not bad (it's not stereo) but then again I use it mainly for 5Live or Talk radio.
One thing you should be aware of is that to use is without plugging it in you need to buy a B1 rechargeable ChargePAK as it does not take normal batteries. This will cost you another £20-25 (http://www.hifix.co.uk/sku.lasso?&item=c9959b3b75e40d1e5c0b34ac1053da4491972eb564609703&rlog=kel). Cheapest I've found.

I get lousy FM reception in my home, but DAB is almost 100% perfect on my two cheapies (one Genus, and one ex-Argos from TJ Hughes).
#20
We're pretty lucky, great DAB reception here (other DAB radio works without the radio up at all).

Yeah, DAB might go by the wayside one day, but at £19 it's a lot of radio for the money!

Also has FM for when not in a DAB area (or when DAB gets retired!).

DAB is ok,would be good if they used decent bitrates but they dont so the sound quality isnt amazing

what have oily freshwater fish got to do with DAB radio? :-D

Aside from the comments of those who think DAB isn't what it should be. Let's try to be clear about what it is and what it isn't.

1. It will not give you true audiophile sound quality BUT, it's a portable radio not an audiophile receiver.

2. Expensive failure, no it isn't, it's proving very popular. Look in most electrical retailers you will notice they all sell them you may also notice that they do not sell HD DVD players. They sell stuff that people want... it's not hard to understand.

3. Extra channels, if you want to listen to BBC 6 or 7, Planetrock or loads others it's great. It also gives much better reception than AM if you want to listen to R5 (especially at night time)

4. This model is an excellent DAB radio, it will give superior reception in areas of less than optimal DAB broadcast.

5. For nineteen quid it is a bargain.

My daughter wants a pink one for Christmas, sadly my local Mega Tesco didn't have any in so I'm ordering from whoever is cheapest on that there world wide whotsit.

If you are witihn reach of a wifi connection, Internet Radio is 1000 times better .... and it has that many times more stations too!
#25
DAB is crap I have to admit. It promises more than it delivers and I'm forever losing channels that were there mere hours ago. It's unbelieveably annoying. I dunno I just don't see the benefit over FM and I think my next radio will be wi-fi.

But this is a bargain and that's the point.

I saw a white one in the Borehamwood store a few weeks ago. Was very tempted to get this as it's quite portable and compact. However, put it down again as soon as I realise that it doesn't use normal batteries but you need to buy a Pure chargepak costing £30. In the end, got an eco-friendly Roberts which admittedly costs more but takes normal batteries which lasts 100+ hours.

If you're looking for the Pure One Mini, this is a good deal. Not voted.

I heard that they wanted to introduce digital TV was so they could see exactly
what we all watch every second of every day.

Is it the same with digital radio?

Love my Hitachi DAB radio micro system, especially BBC 1Xtra, get crystal quality sound in London much better quality than with FM (never mind AM).

Don't think it'll get phased out, but instead may be improved/upgraded just like digital TV to allow more features - Digital is the future! Hoorah!

Yes, that's right, THEY are well known for this kind of behaviour. I also heard that THEY want to infiltrate everyone's house with mice that can send signals back to the government, so that they will know what everyone is saying and doing. The mice are fitted with tiny recorders for audio and video. Don't trust anyone or anything. Ever.
That's what I heard anyway.

:w00t: That would explain why I've seen mice running around my flat with little reindeer antlers stapled to their heads - the antlers must be antennae in disguise...

Please note that this model has a built-in battery (unlike those which can accommodate normal AA, C or D size batteries) size and in my opinion may not be ideal for everyone.

Just to be clear - it uses a proprietary battery pack or 'ChargePak' as Pure calls it. The battery is not generally included with the radio.

They are specific to the radio model and can be had from Amazon for about £25. It charges whenever the radio is connected to a mains supply and is claimed to be good for about 40hrs use.

Divvy

Drop me a PM if you're struggling to find one - I have a brand new (still sealed) one somewhere which I think is pink.
