This is stunning value. Can you order this in? Last time petrol / diesel was so high cheap veg oil deals just flew off the shelves. I will gladly by 100s of litres at this price. Anyone got experience of placing orders with Tesco?

If you just run it on about 30/40% veg oil it should be fine, if you wont to put in a higher mix then you may need to add a heating system, because of the viscosity of the veg oil it maybe harder to start on a cold morning....read some of the golf entries on this list.

I don't think the HDI engines will play happily with vegetable oil, have you done a conversion or something?

It will be necessary to change your fuel filter after you first start adding veg oil to your tank as the Veg oil will clean all the carp out of the fuel system.

No, it works out at £5.06 for 6 litres = 84p per litre. If you're intending to buy large quantities to run a [suitable] car then it works out cheaper at Costco where, if you buy 20 litre containers, the price per litre works out about 70p.

I drive a VW Passat 1.9 TDI. However, I have had an extra tank added to the boot and a proper vege kit professionaly installed. This insures that the veg oil is heated to the right temp (and thus the correct viscosity) before it is injected into the engine.

I would not recomend putting vege oil in any car without doing the correct conversion and home work. You will end up knackering your fuel pump or blocking your injectors.

Hope this helps.

FAIL!

2 x 3 litre bottles at £2.95 each but BOGOF therefore...
...6 litres of sunflower oil costs £2.95 = 49.17p per litre

You canbuy a pallet load at costco. The BOGOF deal will be limited to a certain amount per customer. These deals are to get customers in store and tesco frown on selling large amount to private buyers. I drive a Megane 1.9 DCI and once popped a 40% mix in........bad idea need my injectors sorting out on the next service.

Nothing to stop you going in 4 or 5 times and going to different checkouts or the self service. Personally I take Tesco for every penny when they misprice or have a loss leader going.

If you have a newer engined diesel (i.e common rail) I wouldn't risk the veg oil, most french cars can run on upto 35% but anything over that and come service time you will be paying more out, also HP pump will be wearing quicker and you may get blocked injectors etc.
#32
Thanks op. Heat and rep added:thumbsup:

There was a bunch of police stopping random cars mainly white vans ect and checking their fuel and for the use of red diesel. Was wondering if adding oil to diesel pose any problem if stopped by police? can anybody elaborate on this thanks

You have a legal 'allowance' of 2500 litres per year using veggie. How the hell anyone apart from yourself is suppose to know how much you have actually used is beyond me.

Happy days:)
