Doesnt this company sell imports meaning no warranty?

The Nokia warranty is 2 years European Union wide. You don't even need a receipt if your phone's IMEI is valid.

Very good price for the white N9, looks much better than the other ones with the gloss finish. Would not recommend this to anyone after apps and the like but for inbuilt functionality and a rather unique device - this is deffo one to go for.

Good deal then.

Meh too much for dead end OS.
Monkey nuts 2
Were these ever officially released in the UK?
Nope, were released in Finland, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Russia and a couple of other countries. Deffo not here, Germany or in the US - MS and the Windows Phone push me thinks...

Great bit of kit - might have a single core 1.0ghz cpu but the 1gb of ram more than adequately makes up, its a quick and powerful phone. Lacks on the apps front but has a great UI and built-in functionality so more for someone wanting something niche imo. Pity they created an inferior version coughlumiacough which makes this phone less unique than it should be ;/

Ugly phone HTC should stick to what they do best and not try to rip off Blackberry's, if we wanted a Blackberry we would of bought one and these phones have been cheaper than this previously. At this price there are better handsets with better performance.

Oh, and size wise, it's almost identical to the San Fran. A bit thicker in the middle, but no so you'd notice. Still not loving the plasticy back though, doesn't feel too sturdy when you're taking the case off.
Just an update. I'm getting 2 days of battery without using Juice Defender or optimising the phone any. I don't game extensively, but have the odd go on Ninja Jump or Angry Birds, and use the browser and wifi regularly. I found some great apps to help transfer data, photos, videos etc. and now use launcher pro instead of the Sony UI. Am still impressed with the phone, and the performance is phenomenal. Can't really believe the step up from the San Fran, it just whizzes along. So far (and fair point, it's only a few days in), I'm really pleased with the purchase.
Will do. So far I haven't used it in anger, but I did download about 2Gb's worth of maps over WiFi and that didn't seem to deplete the batter at all. Am seriously loving the camera and the video playback. The screen is so sharp for £200 and playback and sound is brilliant.

As an aside, this morning I rooted the phone, so I can install all the stuff from my previous Android (San Francisco - God, I love that phone). Still deciding about whether to flash it with a stock OS, but haven't found one that's been "approved" for the Sony. Will probably wait for the ICS update next year. The Sony UI is a bit counter intuitive though, why scroll through four screeens sideways for your programs when you've got 5 "home" screens?
Will you let me know what the battery life is like. I've just bought one of the white Xperia Plays that Phones4U had on and on fully charging and playing about for about an hour, the battery was half spent!! I believe both these phones use similar 1500 mah batteries, so wouldn't mind finding out on an average day yours does.

May end up sending this back to Phone4U because I bought it being a cheapskate and didn't want to pay the extra £54 between this Play and the Neo V, but this is really for the younger user, with the games. The bulk and weight difference between this Play and my HTC Wildfire seems a lot.

I see what you mean about the Sony UI, to me it doesn't seem nice to use, coming from HTC's Sense.

Edited By: stefor on Nov 25, 2011 01:28
First impressions of this:

The good
Size is perfect
Looks nice
HDMI out! Works perfect with my telly.
Screen is sharp
Processor is quick and apps nippy
Browsing v quick
Got a Sat Nav that you can download maps for (well chuffed wit that since I'm going to the US in Jan and was going to rent one with my car)

The not so good
Feels a bit plasticy.
Not loving the Sony UI, prefer the stock Android.

Now I need to root and see what I can see for stock mods. Overall though, I am very pleased with it. I think it might have come from Turkey, since there are a couple of weird Turkish apps on it. Does that make it a grey import?

Now gone down to £113.99 :)
Not exactly a steal at this price given it was £99 at Christmas, but I guess if that's the best price at present it's reasonably warm.

The flash itself is very good, I've got one (using with a d3100) with an Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce (2nd hand for about £65). It's very good indeed, and more than enough for most amatuer photography. Highly recommended product for me.
I'd probably go for a Sunpak RD2000 for about £60 if I wanted a handy-but-small flash like this. I picked up an SB-600 for about £70 more.
Smashing flash - big enough for just about everything you'll ever need, and small enough to carry with you. I've had one for about a year now, and it's always with my D90, and gets used all the time.

Not voting, I just don't need the world's smallest phone atm either, like the poster. The above copied details were from the http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/14/modu-worlds-lightest-cellphone-lands-in-uk/ link the poster added.
Let's not mince words here, the Modu is as limited and frills-free as any modern phone can be. It keeps a list of your contacts and calls, does a bit of messaging for you, and plays back music from its thrifty 2GB of built-in, non-upgradeable memory. As such, it fulfills the "phone" part of the bargain by itself and then relies on its jackets to flesh out functionality a little more. The night jacket adds in ambient lighting and a 3.2 megapixel camera, while the sport option augments things with a pedometer display. There's also an 8-inch (touch-less) photo frame on offer that can act as a pretty nifty charging dock and media player.

You'll need to be a bit more specific about your needs and budget, but you'll want a fast lens for sports photography - if a zoom, preferably something with constant aperture. What kind of sports will you be shooting, and is it indoors or outdoors?

The best option is a telephoto lens - the 300mm f/2.8 ED-IF AF-S VR NIKKOR costs a bit less than £4k and has everything you need.

More realistically the 80 - 400 VR Zoom is a bit over £1k and is fine for safaris. Don't buy this as a grey import though - too risky if something goes wrong. Jessops have it.

There is a 70-300 VR for about £400 but it is not significantly better than the 55-200 VR posted here.

Mmmm, tempted....!
This is a grey import - the same as those sold on the Amazon marketplace and elsewhere. No problem other than the guarantee and for cheaper lenses like this one not much of a risk. This is the standard price for a grey import - usually available somewhere for around £140. I would avoid Camerabox - Purely Gadgets are OK unless something goes wrong... if you buy from an Amazon marketplace seller you have a little more protection.

It is an ideal lens to take candid portraits of children but not really long enough or fast enough for nature or sports photography.

eMusic's a fantastic site, well worth signing up for, and 35 tracks means 3-4 free albums while you're there (cancel before the 14 day trial is up to avoid any charges if you don't like it)!

Don't let the guys above me put you off, there's a great selection but it's just independent labels - so no U2 or Britney. Examples of acts who are there: Stereophonics, The Prodigy, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Adele, Basement Jaxx, Isaac Hayes, Underworld, Paul McCartney, The White Stripes. If you have an open mind and don't just want the current top 40, it's a very cheap way to get legal downloads...

(plug over, I just love that site!)
Yeah, I signed up a while back and couldn't find anything worth downloading either.

At least they were pretty hassle free about my cancelling during the free trial period.
I signed up for this a while back and struggled to find any music of my taste on there. good deal if you can though
I think there is quidco too.

Just a quick note about Purely Gadgets. They are grey importers of camera equipment.

The Camera may not be covered by Nikon UK warranty so I would check with Purely Gadgets as they usually offer their own return to base warranty.

I would phone up and check if this concerns you.

What rhymes with 'dosser'?
I have one of these, I only picked it up due to the fact I was ordering items from a web site and saw it for £5 so i thought id get it and have a look, Its actually really handy when i'm watching movies full screen and it flashes away, so it alerts you that you get an msn message, cos i don't get any notification or sound on msn when in full screen on a movie.

Please note, im running xp 64 bit edition and the program that you need to load does fall over once in a while, most likely cos its not been made for 64 bit edition, prob works fine with xp and vista, and you can always download new versions of the software.

At the end of the day I bought this as a gimmic just to see what it was like, but i wouldn't spend much more then £5 on this. But I use it alot just due to being in full screen on things. I found it a gimmic which turned into a useful tool.

Refer to my previous post to get the item cheaper then listed above.
Skip fodder for those who need to get out more.

I posted this deal just to see how people respond to the price difference to that of the D40. When people see the D40X price many comment ''It's £100 more, just get the D40 and an extra lens'' etc, etc.... People don't seem to factor in price when comparing the equal Canon models however.... The D40 is so much cheaper compared to anything else on the market, and people who actually own the D40 don't say a bad word about it.
Jessops had the D40x +18-55 lens in their recent sale (which I believe is still on) - in store only (not available online) you could get this bundled with the Nikon (non-VR) 55-200mm lens, Nikon binoculars and a free lowepro 160 camera case for £399.99.

Worth checking Jessops - apparently some have the E-510 dual lens kit for 400 pounds.

John
Johnmcl7;2193799
No, this is quite misleading - firstly the new autofocus has nothing to do with IR or the A350, it's a contrast detect AF which works the same way as a point and shoot camera. The A350 is similar to the Olympus E-330 in that it uses a second sensor near the viewfinder chamber to allow a live preview with the mirror down which in turn means the camera can use its standard phase detect AF systems which are much faster than contrast detect AF.

Also there are quite a lot of changes to the E-x20 cameras which may not seem obvious but are definitely there - the main one is the new sensor which has around one stops worth of DR over its predecessor. It also has a slightly deeper grip, improved burst mode (3.5fps vs 3), wireless flash control (with the FL-36R/FL-50R), SAT, larger LCD, better build quality and much of the customisation from the E-3.

If you can pick up a cheap E-510 dual lens kit I definitely still would, prices have fallen through the floor for this in the US and I think we may see the same here however to claim the new cameras offer nothing more than contrast detect AF is incorrect. The large number of seemingly small changes have led to glowing reviews for the E-420.

John

Thanks for clearing this up, John.
pet2000;2193628
Biggest improvement of the E-420/E-520 is IR autofocus which allows live view without having to flip up the mirror (similar to the more expensive Sony A350), but not much else.

Good price, but worth looking at the recent E420; though it lacks IS, it has many other new features and improvements not found on the E510.
