A few cold votes I see... Find this at the same price or lower anywhere else and I would be amazed.

I think people might be comparing this with similar products not the same. I am interested in a good 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound speaker set however I can not justify nearly £300 at the moment as a student I will have to put up with my standard £30 setup I have had for many years I think (2.1).

Yes if they don't understand the quality of this for the price they should just leave alone.. Have you thought of looking at the AV Forums? Some really good 2nd hand stuff on there as people upgrade.
#4
I have no idea where they are, i am not sure what's good and what would be a rip off so would need a bit of guidance really to find something at a good price that was not junk.

http://www.avforums.com/ a great source for information and their classified section is also worth keeping an eye on as people continually upgrade their systems

Bought my Yamaha RXV2065 from Home AV Direct the other week.Great service from them and would highly recommend.Nearly went for the Q Acoustics 1010i myself but ended up buying the Monitor Audio BR5 package.Heat added.(_;)

Very nice amp, can I ask what you short listed it against or was it always going to be this one?

I bought these about a year ago at £100 more. These are a steal at this price, cracking set of speakers (hooked up to an Onkyo 605).

No never even had this amp in mind.I was dead set on getting a Denon but nearly went for Marantz..So I was a little bit confused on which way to go so posted a thread on AVForums. My budget was around £600 but got told I would be better putting that towards an amp with all the bargains that where about at the time. The amp was over a £1000 a good few months back and I got it for £489 from Home AV Direct. Not even been able to test it out yet as I'm waiting for my speakers to turn up next week.

I've got the highly rated tannoy sfx 5.1 and use them with the PS3 via an onkyo 606 and they sound great, keep checking Richer Sound they do them from 149 (silver) to 199 (blacK)

£489 sounds a very good price, it looks like they have put it back up to over £1000!!

Yeah it was a bank holiday special but you can pick it up for around £520 or cheaper if you look about I think.

Well I was watching the AV Forums for a bargain to come along. The more I read about the Yamaha the better it gets. I might just have to save a few more pennies and go for one. Biggest problem will be trying to persuade the wife.

We wear different goggles, I see a beautiful electronic wizardry, she sees an ugly large black box!!

It's a good set but the subwoofer let it down.

I would buy the 2000 set now, get two fronts, two rears and a centre, then pick up a subwoofer at a later stage, you will be amazed at what these (or the 2000) can produce for the price!

What sub would you suggest? I thought the subs on these were pretty decent.

I have these and a RXV1065. For the price they're amazing speakers.

Hot.

good price for a 5 star test winning package! i have a yamaha amp with the 1010 center and rears with the floor standing speakers in the front.you have to pay loads more to better it.

I have the QA 2020 fronts and 2000 centre with a BK Gemini II sub and they sound amazing for the money. I'm hoping to add the rears at a later date when funds allow. (_;)

Sounds like the Yamaha amps are a popular choice with these speakers. I was so on the verge on an Onkyo but will have to look deeper now.

Took a bit of a gamble because I couldn't go to a store and have a listen myself before I bought them. But the set-up did get a great responce and reviews on AVForums.Best thing anyone can do I suppose is go out and have a listen of the set-ups.Cheers for making me even more happy with my purchase ezak2211 (_;)

Great speakers, might find it difficult sourcing wall brackets though. I think they discontinued them when they brought out the 2000 range, and the 2000 brackets do not fit.
#27
I have been considering these for rears http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/4006 then I would need to sell a pair of the 1010i or just keep them as spare. Could always buy a bigger house and go 7.1 ;)

You can pick up the MORDAUNT SHORT ALUMNI in white @ Richer Sounds for £100 more...not my taste but a good price.

I bought three pairs of 1010is for £40 a pair from Richer Sounds, then just get your own sub, works out cheaper if you shop around for a decent sub.

Not sure how it works out cheaper, a decent sub is what £200 and then you still need a center speaker.
