Agreed I'm also dissapointed (sic). I would have purchased a set to put in my garden shed along with my 42inch LCD that used to be in my toilet until I bought the 50inch 3D plasma to use with my third back up PS3.

Why do people constantly feel they have to post these kind of remarks!

Hot or not and a reason....simple!.

Life stories as to why the deal is hot/cold are important. :D
#6
Don't bother with the ones in Exeter, they are in terrible condition.
#7

Why do people get so bothered about it that they feel they need to designate themselves "deal police"?!

Also, since you were kind enough to point out his spelling error, I will return the favour by pointing out your grammatical one. No full stop needed after an exclamation mark.

I wonder would they deliver a set...
#12
Had these a while, Great quality and British made. What a bargain for someone, if you can find them available at this price at a Richersounds store:p
#13
Not a good deal all ex demo in poor condition, as my local RS just chucks stuff around.

Also I bought a new pair for 30.00 in richer sounds, so 60 for 4 plus the centre and a sub thats not really that great. extra 50 or 100 and get the monitor audio br5 or br2 set.

Sold my BR5's for these, best AV decision in recent times ;)

It's a steal and a half at £199

eerrr how do work that out? RS are all over the country!!!

I just got their bigger brothers (2000 series) but these are a steal at this price - if and thats a big IF, you can find them in a store, they will be few and far between

N.B. these are a lot bigger than you imagine - check out the sizes, they are not a discreet wall mounted speaker

The only ones left are not in good condition or pieces missing..

Why criticise a comment criticising a comment when the point in a comment is to comment on a comment? Or something like that.

Hot deal, wherever you put your speakers.
#20
As stated before - there were loads of these on saturday, they were all sold apart from the ones in rubbish condition - they may be HOT for a set in good condition - but all of these are POOR no matter what they tell you over the phone - so deal is cold for me as they are all damaged goods.
#21
There's a whole bunch of people with S.A.D. on here.
#22
I have this speaker set (from when they were just over £500). I don't think you could get a better speaker set for this price assuming they're in good condition.

Note that they're not bi-wireable like the bigger sets from Q-Accoustics.
#23
Bi-wiring does absolutely nothing anyway so that's not much of a drawback.
#24
I have a set of 1010i's 1020i's and 1030i's

I've fallen in love with these since I first got the 1010i's - I've been upgrading since I got the first set.

Can't notice ANY difference bi-wiring 1020i's and 1030i's - tried with 2 different amp's, QED anniversary cables
#25
some say bi-wiring and expensive cables = marketing gimmicks.

have to say I agree, decent speakers linked to a decent source sound good with any half-decent cable (obviously not bellwire or similar)

I agree but I've just had a complete cable upgrade and I think good cables are worth the money.

Obviously not something daft like £6p/m or £9p/m

Just out of interest would these sound better than say the new award winning Boston Acoustics Soundware XS at around £250-£300?
Thanks.

It's a steal and a half at £199

Now, is it a serious post?
Did you really sell your BR5 in favour of these plastic little speakers?

I am thinking of BR6 5.0 setup, hence I am asking.

I am quite serious actually.

I have a mate who's got BR5's paired with a Yamaha RXV-1700, didn't sound good at his place (they're ok but not worth the asking price of £1300)

I got them and paired them with an Onkyo which was perfect according to the reviewers, tried various setups and even upgraded the cables but they just didn't seem right. I thought I'll have to spend more money and only bought the 1010i's as a stop-gap as I didn't want to be without a 5.1 set-up.

1010i's blew me away and since then I've been spending more money on these buying the 20's and the 30's.

This is my cheapest set-up so far and it's the best sounding one I've had for a while.

definitely, these are in a different league.

But bare you in mind you are basically comparing speakers in different categories. The Soundware's are small and as a result quite wife friendly. The 1010s are a lot bigger and aren't the prettiest speakers in the world, so a lot of people might not be happy with them in the front room.

agreed :)

but if I were buying wife-friendly attractive speakers, I'd buy Jamo's that are cheaper and better at AV sound IMO. Neither of the sets are going to be good at music.

anything from richersounds should be instantly voted cold. Most of these so called deals are collection only with only one in stock at a branch so far away you'd need to spend £200 on flights and ferrys. That and the fact 9 times out of 10 whatever seems to be a good deal will almost certainly be ex-display.

LOL

Ever heard of a telephone?

They have free phone numbers

This is how my last conversation went:

ME: do you have the 1030i's in stock?
RS: Yes we do. We have 3 pairs

ME: Can you check if they're brand new?
RS: Can you hold while I check in the back please.

ME: Yeah
RS: [after 5 minutes]: Yes we do, they're brand new. Do you want me to keep one aside for you?

ME: Yes, I'll pick them up [today/tomorrow]
RS: Certainly Sir.

Later...

ME: My name is... Can I have my speakers please...
RS: [Get speakers from the store]

ME: [Payment done]
RS: Can we help you to your car?

ME: Certainly
RS: [Haul the boxes to the car and help put them in]
