Nothing impressive...just like ordinary speakers.
Bose are the best!

Get a life mate. bose are the best , bose are lifestyle speakers and they are average at best, would prefer kef eggs.. , these would walk all over bose for performance.
Next thing you know, you are going to say onkyo is a rubbish make.

I hope you are joking,

Otherwise.... (Cannot think of the words)

how many time do we need to educate such peeps. bose is like vivitar (or whatever cheapo camera brands there are in the market today) in camera world. go on screw yourself with b&o after this
#6
Probably best speakers in price range, would go nicely with yamaha 765 amp
#7
Out of price range. Could afford these, but wouldn't have the money to get a complimenting receiver :(. Still hot though!
#8

Just waiting for the post from someone who bought a 5.1 setup for £50 from PC World...

i didnt realise there's die hard bose fans just like iphones.

there are hundreds of speakers better than bose. maybe thousands. an these 1010i's shouldn't be underestimated. check the reviews before mocking.

u can get nice 5.1 hdmi amp for about £150 from richer sounds. that'll power them nicely as front & rear speakers are 75w anyway (with 100w center). But the active sub will make up for low power amp & speakers. these speakrs are awesome for their drive & clarity. I would buy had my eltax speaker package blown (10 years & still going)

Can anyone who knows more about these things than myself so whether these speakers would be a good match up with my existing Onkyo 607?

Thanks
#13
Good speakers but not the best choice if you want something descreet in your lounge. The Jamo A102's posted earlier this week for £149 are perfect for that me thinks.
#14
Oh boy... Why do I even visit this site anymore?

I was contemplating getting an Onkyo 608 and buying the speakers bit by bit, but now... God damn you HUKD!

1010i review:
http://whathifi.com/Review/Q-Acoustics-1010i-51/

the speakers will definitely suit the amp. you wont hav to put the volume up that much to enjoy the movie. but too high & you'll blow them. at decent volume you'll have a great movie experience.

you could go for bigger speakers but like i said, unless you spend at least double the money then you wont get the same quality.

the 1010i's will fill an average/large UK livingroom easily.

my eltax speakers are loud, but I sold my front speakers about a year ago to make some room. then I bought bigger eltax speakers thinking they'd be better as their louder. but those speakers have far too much bass so surround sound dont sound too great when panning across the room. goes from tinny to bassy then tinny again. very annoying :3

i'd go for 1010i's. much better than Jamo's if you already shelled out for an amp

Lets not jump to the other extreme now, and show ourselves as ridiculously uninformed, Bose make *some* decent stuff and put alot of money into R&D, the problem is that they are often ridiculously overpriced in terms of the performance you can expect. It's like someone said earlier, they are "lifestyle" audio products.
#21
will these speakers pair well with a bright amp like the sony str2400es? i have had the mordaunt short genies for a few years now and they are discrete but something with a bit more clarity and umpf would be nice. Do they come with speaker stands? These look ugly compared to the genies but then again speakers are also about sound and not looks so I am willing to compromise a bit.
#22
Two weeks ago I listed this at £289.99 and free delivery. These speakers have been £299.95 for around 2-3 months now at superfi.

They are over priced speakers that are no where near as good as they were 20 years ago.

apology for my harsh comment. no pun intended really. i know bose make 'some' decent stuff and at least i personally would prefer 'some' bose products over samsungs, lgs or even sonys for that matter. but to have said bose is the best to me is utterly rubbish.

I've got a set of these and they are great, unlike a lot of home cinema speakers they are actually really god for music playback as well.

Never regretted buying them
#27
These would probably go very well with the amp deal I posted a few days ago *cough*

Interesting all the fuss about these Q Acoustics packages. Treated myself to a new Onkyo SR TX SR607 last week. Hooked it up to my old 5.1 cheapo JPW/Revolver package and am well Impressed with the sound ( bear in mind these were cheap when I bought them 12 years ago )! Listened to the Q Acoustic package in a shop and LOVED them with 5.1 Cinema sound. But when the shop switched to normal CD music, they sounded like a cheap and nasty pair of plastic boxes. Am I missing something!??? Quite happy to spend £300 quid on an upgrade.....as long as it sounds better than my old package!
#29
Curr I agree - they sound great on 5.1 for home cinema setup's but not great for music and there are better speakers out there for a cheaper price. My only problem with these speakers was the size of them. I personally prefer the styling of the newer 'lifestyle' speakers too that don't look like 5 upturned mini wheelie bins dotted around your room - I hate the old box design of speakers with a passion and much prefer them to be hidden away as much as possible. The Kef 5005's are perfect for me :)

Would these be better than a set of Logitech Z-5500s?

yes, undoubtably.
#32
(stupid edit doesn't work...)

just wanted to say - I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I needed a full 5.1 set.
#33
Bought these speakers in cherrywood from superfi around 12 months ago, upgraded the front speakers to floor standers for about the same price as these. The speakers and sub are fantastic, especially with my Onkyo 606 amp :)
