Q*bert: Rebooted £3.59 @ Steam

What more is there to say. It's Q*bert. Also has Trading Cards to sell :)

Q*bert is Back @!#?@!

One of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful arcade games of the 1980s is back in its Classic pixel perfect 2D form, and a re-imagined Reboot version with state of the art 3D game-play and graphics that remain faithful to the original concept. Both versions are exciting twitch games requiring keen puzzle solving skills and logic.

First introduced in 1982 by Gottlieb, Q*bert was critically-acclaimed and went on to become the third most successful arcade game of all time (behind Pac-Man and Donkey Kong). It inspired home versions, a variety of Q*bert merchandise, numerous copycat games and even an animated TV series.

Q*bert Classic stays true to the original in all its jagged 2D pixel art glory, now optimized for the modern PC with mouse and Steam gamepad controls. As the title character, players jump around an isometric cube pyramid and convert each block’s color while avoiding familiar adversaries Coily, Ugg, Slick, Sam, Wrong Way and Red Ball. Levels become progressively harder with more enemies blocking your path and the tiles requiring multiple jumps to change to the required color.

Q*bert Rebooted takes the arcade classic and catapults it into the 21st century 3D game play that takes full advantage of today’s technologies yet remains faithful to the original Q*bert. Featuring hexagonal blocks instead of squares, Q*bert Rebooted introduces new enemies, playable characters, power-ups, traps, gem collecting and characters, and new ways to play.

Q*bert Rebooted highlights:
Level Select – replay all previously unlocked levels and track progress against friends.
7 New Playable Characters – introducing Q*zard, Q*bertha, Q*bot, Q*zilla, Q*tee, Q*knight and Q*nicorn, all based on the original Q*bert form.
3 New Enemies – the classic cast of adversaries are joined by new enemies Homer, Uppercut and Treasure Chest
9 Achievements – these include Classic Master, Newbert, Qbertorama, Snake Surprise, Green Machine, Ugg!, Down for the Count, Disc Rider and Coin-Op Collector.

I just bought this and tried it. If you want to use the controller do not buy it. Using a 360 pad and you cant use it in the menus. In game it is either unresponsive or jumps the wrong way killing you. Terrible. Keyboard seems to work fine.

Man that's a bummer. Q-bert is one of my fav games of yore. Played a whole heap of it in the arcades on Oxford Road in Madchester. Loved the much maligned Gameboy Colour game. Was waiting for this new version to go on sale and now this bombshell. Sad Ted. :(

Now that I have a nice new steam box with big telly mode up and running, I have to be selective in my purchases.

Thanks for the headsup Jay, will wait whilst they patch it. No / bad controller support. No sale.

I think Q-bert predates slurpy, though I may be wrong. I can recall playing Q-bert back in 82/83 when I used to bunk off from college.

Yeah really disappointing. At least i just gave mouse control a go and that works fine. Will plug a PS4 pad in later and see what that is like.

Is it not just a case of the positioning of the movement of joystick (direction) as it was always offset.

Seems a lot of complaints in the forums about the same thing. Sometimes it doesn't even move when you want it to.

How could they get movement controls so wrong in this day and age. Surely that sort of thing should not get through the first pass of QA. Never heard of Sidelineamusements or Gonzogames. Sony should take more care with the IP before palming off any old devs. Amateurs..
