Voted hot. Have been looking at one of these, in Argos at £38.99.

Anyone know anything similar for less before I buy?

Just buy a pair of scissors.

Probably be just as back breaking as using one of these

Another person who likes talking out of their bum! As long as the grass is dry this is very light and easy to use. I can as much time trying to start a petrol mower as getting the whole job done with one of these.

The grass collection box is useless however.

I just want something which will motivate me to do it!

The electric ones I have are a pain to get out of the shed and wiring it up etc etc. Just being lazy, I remember using similar in the past when I was a kid and it wasn't hard work then, I doubt it will be now!

Are you sure about the grass collection box being useless?

On the argos site, this particular one gets good reviews. The cheaper one (with a flimsy grass box) does have reviews indicating the grass box is indeed useless.

Curious if you are speaking from experience on this one or...?

Thanks

The one I've got looks like the one in the pic but I don't know if it's the same model. I don't even bother with the grass box anymore.

got one of these last week.

very light and easy to push / manouvre around the garden

grass collecting box collects SOME of the grass, but in fairness you're going to have to get the rake out.

cuts grass really well though.

I got one like this the other day. The cheap one from Argos. When you mow to the end of the lawn, if you don't slow right down, a sudden stop makes all the collected grass slide forward through the blades and onto the border. I got sick of that and now don't bother with the grass box.

Got a perfectly good flymo in the garage, but by time I've got it to the lawn unraveled the wire, found an extension and unfolded the handle, I could easily have finished with the push one. It's brilliant.

mumbojumbo
There's a push mower for under £30 on Tesco Direct. It was £20 in the last Bank Holiday 1/3 off promo. There's double the value of Clubcard points - so I guess that means £15 worth of vouchers??? :? No idea if it's any good though.

Nice one  I might give that a try as I think I have some vouchers somewhere!

Hm ok, well I guess it's looking hit or miss with the grass box from the others, thanks very much :)

These are now £29.24 at argos!

Well been waiting for the price drop to make me buy it, just reserved at Argos - Many thanks!

Great deal, thanks Amibees :)

This has now been reduced further to just £27.99, making it £31.94 delivered! (I've updated the OP)

I have the larger version of this mower and I love it. It can leave some cuttings behind, but to be honest its so few that I just leave them on the lawn. And yes, it is easy to use - so the poster who suggested that a pair of scissors would be as easy should stick to talking about things they know about!
#14
I had one of these and yes the grass collection is pretty useless.
It felt good not using any fuel or leccy to cut the grass and is an easy workout but the build quality is not that great - worth trying at this price if you haven't had one before!
Ideal if you have a small lawn.
#15
Far better cut with this type of mower, you get a free work out and save on the bills.
I have to laugh when you walk past a postage stamp garden and there is some fat bloke with a petrol mower.
#16
Good mower, but it struggles with long grass.

Back to £30 at amazon with free delivery! Here's hoping argos lower their price to match again.
