What is the benefit of ths over, say, a petrol powered mower? Just curious.

    It doesn't need petrol?

I got the Bosch 37LI from costco for 99.00 plus vat, and its the best lawnmower I have ever owned, including petrol.

Charge the battery and go.. And its powerful, lasts about 60min so good for a small lawn, but I bought 3, so, sold one for 250.00, then took the battery out of the other, and sold it as is on ebay for 120.00, so got the lawnmowers for free.

So got a 37Li with 2 batteries for free.

Hello all, long time viewer but first post. I have the Bosch 43" LI...best mower I have ever owned by a long way. I just swap the 2 batteries and it cuts large front and rear lawns...even managed first cut of year with only one additional recharge. Do not miss the aggro of making sure I always have petrol, or the maintenance, or pulling muscles starting it at the beginning of each season. Plus the LI is about half the weight and far more manoeuvrable. Been using it two trouble free years so far.

Obviously my comments are about a Bosch and this one is Qualcast, but got to be worth consideration.

lol, you obviously didnt buy a decent petrol mower - i have a Honda izy and id buy another - used roughly once very 2 weeks for near 6 years and no maintenance needed, starts 1st time every time even after storage - and filling with petrol and occasional oil takes seconds - ive used battery operated and electric stuff before, still have them and dont use them and they are garbage compared to petrol ones- only issue with petrol ones is weight - oh and NEVER buy a cheap make petrol mower its like buying a cheap tent from asda/tesco (puts people off for life) - stick to honda, briggs/straton engined mowers

Yes Honda Izy are good but are like a porsche boxster compared to a "real" porsche, they aren't quite the top of the honda range, I have a professional Honda model which is great but am also very impressed by my bosch 43li which for light weight & manouevrability, quality of cut and stripes etc makes the lumbering Honda look like old technology to be honest, the quietness of the electric motor which hasn't missed a beat in over 2 years of intensive use, so I think it is short sighted to dismiss 36 volt lithium powered tools as garbage, they just have slightly different applications

I wished I had read the reports for this before buying one, utterly disappointed.
So heavy it sinks into my grass, very bad cut, no good.
Homebase - why do you sell something like this?

So here I was - my mower is getting old and I needed a new one. The weather was nice, the grass dry and I was ready to cut.
Went into my local homebase and bought this mower as I thought no cable, 36V sounds good. My brother had bought a Bosch one but I did not want to spent as much money.
Well, I was wrong, this thing is awful (!) Leaves loads of grass on the lawn, very heavy, battery runs out in 14 minutes and overall sub quality. People if you want a battery mower stay well away from this one - it is a waste of money.

Royals...I own 2 petrols, main workhorse is a flymo ( can't remember the model but cost abt £260 if memory serves ) and a Mountfield motor driven cylinder with scarifier attachment for proper lawncare. My gardens are abt 1/3 of an acre, so on the basis that the Bosch LI is perfectly capable of keeping everything looking neat and tidy for considerably less effort I think I know what I will be sticking with.

Scumpysmum...forgot to mention how quiet it is too, good point. Allows me to listen to music on my iPod without having vol up at max while I mow.

cleaner, doesn't smell, doesnt leak petrol, dont have to clean the spark plug,,,,,,,

They are a lot lighter than petrol mowers. Before with a mountfield the mrs would nag me forever to mow the grass. Now with the electric one she can just do it herself.

Think maybe that why she bought a rabbit as well. Also battery powered.

I have yet to see an electic mower yet that can compete favourably with a decent petrol mower. I have a Hayter Harrier 41 and it is bullet proof, powerful and can cut through even the longest wet lawn without clumping + you never forget to "plug it in". Seriuously, with a regular filter clean / oil top up it will probably outlast my will to mow the lawn.

Don't foget people replacement / spare bats are £110 for this, that gets you a hell of a lot of petol and all batts have a pretty limited life span compared to the good old fasion internal combustion engine.

did you get the front desk to confirm the price, surely it cant be £127.49 only at the leicester branch

Its quiet, as stated does not need petrol or oil and it does not need servicing once a year.

Qualcast is owned by Bosch , so why these are much worse then the rotak is a puzzle.
I would have thought it was like comparing the Atco Balmoral to the Suffolk punch qualcast (again both owned by bosch now owned by Allet) the cheaper Suffolk punch had lesser bells and whistles plastic rollers non comfort grip handles etc.

I bought mines to compete against my old Corded Flymo.
Once you work out from the absolutely awful instructions how to put to the Qualcast together, it weighs a fair bit more than the corded Flymo. but obviously lighter than most petrol mowers.
It does feel quality for a £127.49 mower wouldn't pay anymore than £150.00 (the expensive ryobi equivelent looks stunning),
Hopefully I will be trying it out today if it doesnt pour it down again.

Bosch sold the Qualcast name a couple of years ago to a firm who import Chinese branded models & who hasn't got an agent network. So generally there won't be any support for these machines by any dealers. Bosch as also sold off the Webb & Atco names as well, but these have at least been bought up by groups who have dealers up & down the country.

If the weight is your main concern then you could try this: LINK
It is really light and is fun to use, although it does not cut the grass.
