I never understand why supermarket chains do this. If they can sell at 10p and still have the lot gone within a few minutes why would they sell at 2p? I'm really confused.

reason = so they can post the ' offers ' on sites like this, and get people to drive to the stores, looking for bargains that will long have gone off the shelves......

no other reason, like u said, why sell for 20% of what u know u can easily get for an item ?

What cobblers!
A global company's pricing strategy is NOT based around relatively minnow sites like this.
While it's '20% of what they can get' remember it's also only 8p. Even if each store sells them at this it's still not a potential loss of any significance whatsoever considering the huge scale of the company!

my asda was 20p )-8

It’s not for sites like this...
The reason they do it is this: The best form of advertising is word of mouth, it’s free and the most effective as the information is coming first hand from someone you know and trust.
Sell it for 10p who bothers to tell a friend?
Sell for 2p, next time you have a natter it comes up in the conversation. You got a great deal from Asda.
That sublimely passes on a message that you get real bargains in Asda. Next time that person thinks hmm should I go to Tesco or Asda, they decide Asda. Ching ching....

Picked up a couple at 20p in my local, have you got a receipt to confirm prices OP?

I don't think this was a global economy decision, I think a section manager or assistant manager decided to get rid of them at that price. The other posts relaying a different price for different stores appear to suggest a local decision. Blooming good post tho. :-D

When the company decides to stop selling an item country-wide they 'delete' it from stock which has it come up on their POS system as 2p. When this happens each and every store is supposed to destroy the remaining stock, not sell it. With the customer intended to be oblivious to this. It's a bit daft but hey, it's their money they're wasting.
#13
what do they normally sell at?
#14
i think it might have been a typo by the OP as they are 20p also in liverpool
#15
41p for the 'My Caramel Swirls' pre-Christmas.

Something fishy about this post. You spot these at a ridiculously low price but choose not to get them (come off it who would leave these on shelf for that price it doesn't make sense). Then post the deal on UKHD which people are only too eager to vote hot. This is a joke.
