QUALITY universal laptop charger from Innergie £54.99 @ Maplin

I'm personally tired of buying the poor quality £19.99 universal power adapters for my laptop so decided to invest in a decent quality one from Maplins. It's an Innergie mCube Lite with 3 year warranty, Lifetime replacement tips, powerful USB socket (even charges my iPad), and compared to the cheaper ones, it's very compact and light. Anyone with any experience of the cheap £19.99 versions will agree that they are renowned for their dodgey wires and tips that keep breaking. Yes the Innergie one is more expensive but the benefits make it worth it!

I don't understand this product... isn't it cheaper to get an adapter from the original manufacturer in most cases, or if not, off ebay?

If you only have one laptop then I would say yes. I was toying with the idea of a universal one from a seller on Amazon which had good reviews but in the end bought the one specific to the laptop I required it for. If you have a few laptops or are a company (for example) it can be handy to have an adapter which will power any of your laptops.

You get the extra benefits of a USB charger that charges your phone faster than your laptops USB port, also it's smaller and more compact. ALSO as you get loads of different tips you can use this with numerous laptops... I have a Sony Vaio and a nettop (and an iPad) and the Innergie covers me for all of these :)

Never really liked Maplins. They tend to sell unknown brands at high prices and also a few branded product at very high prices. oO

I've done fine with a £17 universal one for a few years now, just get some duct tape and tape it up on the wire near the tip to reinforce it, that way the wire can't bend so much which finally results in shorting- lasts much longer and cheaper than spending £50 on an overpriced charger like this which will no doubt do the same over time anyway..

my old cheap one used to electrocute me. I'd rather buy a quality product that I can trust and don't need to "tape" up. My Innergie one's tips have a hard case around them so they can't bend. I've never broken one and they have a free replacement tip service anyway in case you did break/lose one. anyway the post is sub zero now anyway so not much point trying anymore :)
