I have just picked up the latest edition of Computer Shopper in my local Asda, and seen that on the cover disk there is a complete (PC) version of QuarkXPress 5.01 along with loads of other programmes. This version (now superceeded, but still great value) previously sold for £880 !!

For those of you not in the know, QuarkXPress is a piece of DTP publishing software used by newspapers and magazine companies worldwide.

The software requires online registration before 29 Feb 08, but is the complete and unrestricted programme.

This is available on both the CD version of the magazine (£3.75), and the DVD version (£4.99).
In addition to this wonderful programme, the disk also comes with the following pieces of software...

Serif DrawPlus 6 (Complete - requires telephone registration)
Aviara AntiVir 7 (Complete + updates - requires online registration)
Ashshampoo Burining Studio (Complete - requires online registration)
Ghost Surf 2007 Platinum (Complete 6 Month License - requires online registration)
NetObjects Fusion 9 (Complete - requires online registration)
The Sages English Dictionary and Thesaurus (Complete - requires online registration)
Steganos Security Suite 7 (Complete - requires online registration)
Macrium Reflect (Complete - requires online registration)
Music Clean (Complete)

+ LOADS MORE !!!

*Incidentally, in Asda, the DVD version also comes with a free copy of "The Week" news magazine too - RRP £2.35 !

Is that issue number 239 because it's not on my copy! unless I'm being blind!

Probably a plugin or something. I can't see how on earth they would give away Quark on a mag coverdisc LOL
If it is Quark full 5.01, even an old edition like that, I am genuinely surprised. Quark is currently at 7.0, and any user knows that they are notoriously slow in updating. 5.01 dates back to around 2002.

go to latest issue, on their website, and it does state that it comes with the mag.

Nice find!!

They've given away the full version of Quark (v4?) before on the front of various magazines. IIRC it was around this time last year that they did it.

It is the full quarkxpress package. I know several publications being produced now with last year's freebie.

This is a great freebie, like in Adobe gave away photoshop 6.
#6
Yep... I can confirm it is the full package of Quark 5, with the update to take it to v5.01.
#7
Oh, and it's issue number 240.

It's hot then :)
Believe me when I say, this is as good as DTP gets. You don't get all the bells and whistles like in the Serif packages (Serif ... LMAO. Great software. Not.)
Quark gives you all the tools you need to produce professional quality publications with minimum fuss. You don't get clipart, wizards and all that kak. It even makes Adobe InDesign look kinda under functional LOL

Cheers for that, will have to wait for it to be posted to me then lol

Can this be used with Vista????
#11
I don't think it can be - there's no mention of it on the disk or the magazine, but the programme was developed probably before Vista was a twinkle in Mr Gate's eye !

I still can't believe people are voting this as cold as I reckon it's a fantastic deal... it must be people who have paid full price for the product !!
