How is it animal cruelty to use feathers? The animals will be reared for their meat and the feathers sold off as a byproduct. Personally, I think duck tastes great!

why do people insist on slating something without doing the research.

decathlon statement......
Our feathers come from Chinese ducks reared for their meat; we remove their feathers after slaughter. We hold the death certificates for these

"The body is covered with feathers for greater comfort."

Presumably there is a layer of tar involved, and the bird's comfort is noticeably reduced.

What is sizing like on Decathlon jackets compared to other sellers?

They seem confused about their own washing instructions:
They clearly state don't dry clean, ...then suggest you take it to a dry cleaners! X)
They also state that you should zip the garment before washing/drying, ...then show a video which totally disregards this advice!! oO
I'd like to see the death certificates for all the ducks that donated to the filling of my jacket! :p

Who cares where the feathers are from and what the washing instructions are it's £ 19.99p.
Wear it for the rest of the winter then throw it away - job done and value for money had !

Agreed. A bargain shouldn't come at this expense. Pertex is man made equivalent - it's almost as warm and far warmer when wet

I bought the x-light 1 which was delivered last week. Ordered large as I'm a medium-large in all my clothes and coats and was too small when I tried it on. Returned for a refund.

I'm sure most of the haters have leather products, eat gelatine, have wool clothing, use musk oil, have pearls, use furniture polishes, use sponges etc.....Very contradictory of them !

Everything comes out of China these days, even duck feathers. :D

only the front and back are feathers/down which explains why it is cheap. the arms and hood are synthetic and I don't think the sides have any insulation.

You're sure? I think you'll find most people who have a conscience about this have empathy for all animals and don't encourage or support any cruelty.

They have duck down, I'm sure they use the feathers from ducks used for food and don't kill them for the feathers!

I bought one last week (£27) love it, but be careful they are on the small side, I ordered a large (i'm 6ft and normal build 12 stone) and it was tight as it should be to work correctly, not too tight. I had considered a medium but that would not have fit.

Yes but only suitable for dry weather.

I think I'm XL. Ordered XL and it's a decent fit, though I only wear it on top of a t shirt. I'm talking about the one that was on offer last week mind. Nice jacket. Glad that all those feathers from ducks that have ceased to be haven't just gone to waste.

Down ducks have arms?! Well I never...

So it's ok to slaughter the animal and eat it, but when the feathers are removed it's then cruelty ? You people need to get a grip

It is true there is supposed to be certified down from dead ducks but this is not monitored and a lot of down is plucked from live birds. For interest look at the PETA sites about the production of duck feathers.

wow this is great, I just ordered 10 :)

Bought one for site, been in Scotland all week and it was perfect. Large is more of a medium to large. Good value for money.
#36
I'm not getting any of this cruelty stuff. If the birds are used for meat and this is sold as a byproduct, then what exactly is wrong with it? Unless you're a vegan/vegetarian, which is taking cruelty to a whole new level.

Ah that's good then, we all know how ethical China is towards animals and how they never lie.

Tried them on yesterday in store, normally wear size L but needed XL to do the zip. Was not impressed with the fit, side pockets positioning is uncomfortable, outer shell feels like plastic polybag. No, I didn't buy it.
