loved tarantino's deathproof esp the ending, worth waiting for the last half hour. well done for bringing kurt russell back.

not sure about the 2nd dvd ie rodriguez' planet terror (or seeing tarantino's cameo balls lol)
#2
lol planet terror looked awesome, who would have thought a woman with a machine gun for a leg would be so much fun. didnt like deathproof though, bit of a let down. good price though

Don't think this disc(s) contains Planet Terror, think the 2nd disc is just bonus material.

If it did contain Planet Terror, the item would be called Grindhouse.
#5
Quite possibly the worst film I have ever seen.....
#6
Each to their own i know; but this film was a load of **** & a complete waste of time.
#7
A good deal if you liked the film, personally, I think bot DP and PT were bloody awful!
#8
this sucket, terror was awesome!!
#9
havent seen it yet but from the trailers it looks toilet....my bro watched it and said its one of the worst films he has ever seen...he reckons they should pay people to watch it...oh dear!
#10
Death Proof was ok if you like slow moving envolving story lines of a b movie nature. The effects are nicely done but all this hapens in the last quarter of the film.

The other half Planet Terror is utterly dire and not worth watching.

Personally i would pass on both as they are not good in any way ;)

Hey, the stunt at the end of Death Proof was amazing. It was heavy on the dialogue, but then, it's QT we're talking about here. The photography in the film, I admired. I guess you gotta be that sort of film critic to love this film, like I did.

Tempted to buy this...but I heard QT didn't do a great job on the extras. Is there a possibility of DP and PT being released in the Grindhouse format on DVD?

probably not here, but it is released already in Japan - cd-wow had it on preorder, was a 6 disc set featuring both films seperate and together - but it was £50 or something as it was a limited gift set.

ive got this and Planet Terror, got the US Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook Editions, which are 3 discs in each - cost me £15 each like, but worth it.

Thought Death Proof and Planet Terror were awesome.

I'd give Death Proof 7/10 because of the way it's really nothing until the last 30 minutes etc.

But I'd give Planet Terror 10/10. Pure, over the top, total fun. I love the bit were the Sheriff gives the speech about not smoking.

If someone paid me £10 to have this film and said part of the deal was that I had to keep it on my shelf for a month - I would honestly say NO. This seriously is one of the worst films I have ever, ever seen, but being from the guy who made some great films, its definately the most disappointing film I have ever seen.

The dialogue is awful, the pace is a total joke, the stunt at the end is lame as hell. I couldnt understand why the car wouldnt just STOP if someone was trying to ram them off the road.
#15
I havent seen either of these two films, but was planning to get them at some point as I love Tarantino and Rodriguez movies.
Are they really that bad? Maybe I should do another free lovefilm trial to watch them first before buying.
#16
I have to admit, I've not seen the film either, but as a fan of Tarantino's other films I was waiting for it to reach a decent price on DVD. I didn't realise opinions were so mixed!
Oh well, I've ordered it now, I'll have to judge for myself. :)

Does this DVD include Planet Terror or not ?
Because i'm only interested in buying it, if it is the double bill Grindhouse as QT intended it to be.

Nope.

Cheers moob....
I dont really see the point of releasing this on its own. I thought QT intended the two films to be released together as a homage to double bill B Movies.

Evil studios milking them for as much cash as they can . I haven't seen either of the double bill, but have heard such mixed views I would personally wait till they are both at a much lower price.

However, looks the best price if anyone wants this now.

Agreed.

For some reason, it was released as the double bill in the USA, yet here, it's released in the same two parts as it was in the cinema.

Sucks.

I agree. I watched it, waiting for something to develop, some good one liners or a story - but was let down by rubbish. Shame!

Worst film I have ever watched... so glad I have an unlimited card and didn't effectively pay £7.30 to watch it. I would defiantely rent it or get it by other means (from a someone who has bought it on Tarrantino's reputation). I hated the whole dialogue, all the "black" talk that is scripted by Tarrantino is utter trash. I'm not going to vote but just beware before you buy, read some reviews. Just an example...

"Tarantino’s gravest sin is the wildly overwritten script. The appalling dialogue – mostly about the sexual predilections of the women and the various men they’ve slept with – is so badly garbled that it fails to make a relevant impact."

This is by far the worst film I've seen in a very long time.

This film isnt worth the mouse clicks to download it off a Torrent site ... never mind actually spending hard earned cash on it !

Voted cold.
Not everything thats cheap is a bargain ... and this DVD is a case in point !!

You should be able view both films for a limited time soon, at a nearby cinema. They're showing the double bill AND the trailers, which is great news.

I think Empire sums up the film pretty well. I didn't know this film divided so many people, but I'll still say I loved it...and you MUST rent it or download, before you buy.

EDIT: Oh, and seriously...voting cold because of your opinion, completely shunning aside that this is a pretty new DVD at a damn good price? Regardless of your opinion, it's a bit daft to vote something cold just because you didn't like it.

Here's a clue ... not everything that's cheap is a bargain.

Your post is indicative of the way the direction this site has gone :(

It's a good film, if you watch it as it should be! As a ****** B movie!

Well, I've now watched both Death Proof and Planet Terror and enjoyed them both. I'd say if you liked from Dusk Till Dawn this would be your kinda movie.
