This or the slightly cheaper corsair 550W gold rated PSU that is on here at the moment? Bearing in mind that either of the two provides enough power for my needs.

Looking to replace my broken PSU ASAP. Thanks!

For what its worth I bought a cosair 550w PSU and took it back the next day with an awful coil wine. bought this one and have had no issues... hear nothing.

this is a good psu at that price. i have the 530 version and cannot fault it.
however i have just this morning purchased a corsair RM 550w for a new build im doing, it can operate at low(0) fan speed
and has corsair link to motherboard so you can geek it up and read all the realtime analysis.
Corsair fan boy :)

Pretty hard to make a decision based on those two replies but thanks a lot anyway! :p still scratching my head as to which one to go for...

If you are not a "power user" ie not overclocking etc, then either supply will be just fine.
However if you are a heavy user then i would choose the Corsair for they are a more reputable supplier of PSU's.

I have used these in 20 custom builds both 530/630 and i cant fault them great PSU for the price i use the 530 version in my current work/rendering rig after a much higher cost unit failed .In my experience most of the lower end Corsair PSUs tend to have coil whine issues so i personally avoid them their higher end units are fantastic though

Just had to get a new PSU to replace a fully working Corsair CX600m Bronze, it was not enough for the potential needs of my new build (blue screen uncorrectable error when loading windows in an overclocked state), but Amazon took it back no bother. Think hard on your current and future needs when paying out for a PSU. If you want crossfire or overclocking you might want a little more juice. The pc partpicker website suggested I only needed 500W for my build, i'd add 50% to that to cover overclocking. Ordered an EVGA Supernova 850 G2 (Gold rated, fully modular) via Flubit for 12% off the Amazon price £95>£84).

Just ordered this psu. Thanks!

I had a bad experience with corsair when a set of speakers packed up and i had to pay nearly £50 to send them back to Holland. This was within a year and i found their rma response time was really slow. 3 days on average for a response and they werent that helpful nor polite. Not the corsair i remembered a few years back when they were really helpful. /rant over!

if anyone is building a micro or mini gaming/media pc system then get this psu,it's silent.

I paid more thank this 6 months ago for the 530watt and its a fantastic PSU, this supply would be great for 90% of users and should be able to handle SLI/crossfire of pretty decent cards and overclocked i5/i7's have some heat.

£51.59 today only at Scan if you get free delivery. Lets see how long it is before someone steals this for their own post.

a 530w version would be enough for most (only about £8 saved, this would be a bit more futureproof) but there are cheaper semi-modular coolermaster options for non-overclockers. still a good price for a modular efficient 630w PSU and personally i'd never go back to non-modular PSU's if you ever intend to tinker with your pc or use a smaller case - so many pointless legacy connections cluttering things up.
