Quik pod monopod, its a telescopic monopod you can use to take pictures of yourself, got a handy mirror on it so you can see what you're photographing - good for holidays when you dont want to bother strangers to take pictures of you, or at a festival or gig when you want a bit more reach for a crowd shot.

Its probably the best of its kind out there and I've not seen it anywhere for less than £20 (IWOOT), play.com have just cut their price to £10 incl delivery.

LOL. what the hell is this thing. I would be scared to use it. Someone could yoink your camera off the end of it too when you were taking the shot

I am so impressed at the 'usage suggestion' pics that I might justbuy one.

Gave me a good laugh - its the sort of gadget you see on the 'Dragons Den' program.

Hehe, classy photos.

I have to say though, I'm not sure quite how you'd get the camera to focus on you, since most cameras will only refocus while the shutter is half-pressed, and from the demo photos it would be used beyond arms reach, so you'd bring it closer to focus/start the self-timer, move it away and it'd be out of focus (unless you closed up the aperture - high f-stop - to give a big depth of focus, or fiddled with manual focus).

Perhaps a lightweight proper tripod or monopod with a spike for driving into the ground - won't stand up otherwise! - (7dayshop.com sell some for under £20, not sure of the quality but they should be fine for compacts) or a gorilla pod (small thing with bendy legs to put on tables/rocks etc) would be more of use to most people, you can set the focus on the other person in the photo, start the self-timer and join them.

Surely it refocuses when taking the pic using self timer? Pretty sure mine does.

I've thought of another use for this, anyone thinking what I'm thinking???
