I quit with the nicorette microtabs a year and a half ago was my first try at quiting in 15 years of smoking, tho i found i was getting attached to them after about 3 months...so had to stop them too! they do work...but the reason i think they work is mostly a distraction, crave a ciggie, taste one of these, near vomit, forget you even needed a ciggie:P
Hot from me at this price for sure, good luck everyone who gonna attempt to quit next year! :)

Wouldn't it be cheaper to see a stop smoking advisor at your doctors ?
Not only will they give you a lot of help and advice, but they will give you a prescription for any number of different nicotine replacement products. A few weeks supply will only be the cost of one prescription charge.
Personally i found the nicotine inhalators worked the best.
#11
packed in April using the inhalator and so far i haven't been back on them

stopped using inhalator after about a month (the smell of burning plastic was doing my head in lol)

because i lost it :p wife found it a couple weeks later in the washing machine but i have managed to avoid using it again so far

put on about half a stone in weight but feel better for it

good luck to anyone who tries ( i was a smoker for 22 years:w00t:)

I quit smoking 8 month ago, using the nicotine inhalor, which i HIGHLY reccomend , i am now a quitter thanks to help of the inhalor :D Gives you that hit on your throat you miss when you quit and also occupies your hands!!! Everone is different tho, so for a pound, its worth a try, voted hot!

I just stopped a week ago. Not a serious smoker, just 4 or 5 rollies in an evening. Not smoking day time. I got my tobacco usually from the Netherlands while visiting my mum - I am Dutch. I bought my last batch in June this year, but ran out, as said, last week.
I am worse than a Scotsman. I can't be spending over 2 times as usual on tobacco. So I just quit.
i know, I am one of the lucky ones. I am still functioning, and colleagues do not even notice it.
This story is going nowhere. Sorry for wasting your time.

I worked i a pharmacy for a while and the pharmacist said he'd never recommend the gum as a way to quit smoking, you just replace your habit and become addicted to this stuff instead
#17
You can normally get these in Home Bargains for the same price. Alternatively you can get 205 of nicorette gum for around £14 in Boots by joining their health club as the big pack is half price if you are a member.
#18
They have Nicotinell 24s in Poundland too. You get twice as many and they taste better than Niquitin.
#19
Its good for light smokers, better then nothing. Tried the nicorette gum before and then curiously had a few burns on a ciggy and the ciggy tasted horrid...I am quite fortunate that I dont smoke much, a few burns in the morning and a few burns after work, all in all maybe 1 and a bit ciggy a day since I had the little one :-D...

All you heavy smokers out there, if u stop the shock will kill you! It's true!!!

If the smoking don't get you the asbestosis will, or the drinking hot coffee, or the sherry, cider, beer, sitting too close to your vdu, rsi, scratching your bum without cleaning your fingernails, eating a hamburger with the latest strain of BSD again, MRSA, RSPCA, Meals on Wheels.

I know quite a few healthy miserable people and knew quite a few dead happy ones.

Bit of a fatalist really :whistling:

It's a QUID!!!

I spent a quid on a rubbish plasticball dispenser gift with a sticky rubbery spiderman window climber thing inside what stuck to my window once, just once, before it fell off with loads of hairs and crumbs and puby things stuck to it. Wouldn't stick again and we haven't got double glazing.
Waste of money! And I'm still smoking!

That's because many smokers want to blame other things for them not being able to quit.

Gave up a year ago, don't mean to sound like "one of those ex-smokers" but my point is true in fairness. Hell, I probably had that attitude when I smoked too :)

My OH has been a smoker for a long long time and he's only been able to give up using the gum. So what if he's a tad addicted to it, it's cheaper and smells a hell of a lot better than fag breath !

But how did you quit?

I stopped by simply reading the Allen Carr book. In all honesty, I didn't really want to quit, but was under pressure from family, kids and OH.

As someone else pointed out, the gum simply shifts the problem. So instead of dying from lung cancer, you die from mouth cancer instead. Nice!

I quit smoking about six months ago reading Alan Carrs The Easyway to stop smoking, and I couldnt reccommend it more!! It really is soo easy! And it logically explains the reasons why NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapies) dont work. When you are smoking, you are addicted to the nicotine pure and simple. No other reason! And that by three weeks there is no trace of nicotine left in your body! So any craving that you have after that is completely psychological! I really couldnt reccommend the book more. GPs should be prescribing it instead of NRTs!! :-D

Help to quit can be found here and here but, in my opinion, not at Poundland;-)

This is something I feel very strongly about having inhaled the poison for 24 years

don't smoke myself but voted hot because the stopping smoking is a good idea lol

I read the Allen Carr book also. It certainly put me in the right mindset for it, though I stopped after the book, started a month later, stopped smoking about a month later... and that was in September 2007, have been off them ever since. It's great that you managed to do it for your family, it's even harder I think, my mum was always on my case about it but to be honest I think the time I managed to finally give up it was because I wanted to, I really don't think I could have given up for others, as selfish as that sounds...

...but yeh for all the rest in the thread, you've got to want to do it for yourself, otherwise it won't happen.

I wish anyone who's trying to quit the very best of luck! :)
