Not for the faint hearted or cash poor ,but if your budget can stretch this far you could own probably the most visually striking TV's!!

Luckily for a TV that costs so much it also has one of the best pictures available.

I looked in the clearance section of Curry's and Comet and surprisingly this TV was nowhere to be seen!

with a 10-second search I found it for £2799.99 (but no deliv) here with 5-year warranty http://www.atlantic2u.net/store/viewproduct.asp?idproduct=7958 Seems to be instore only though, but with such a high-value item there is nearly always room for negotiation, at least 5% in my experience. It would be worth phoning retailers to discuss a discount. WAY out of my price range though!

trust me you dont want to buy a philips product let alone at this price. They make products under liscence and put their brand on them and the goods are often as not very good quality. It is one of the brands we get most returns on at my company.

Even if I had the money to buy this TV I would not waste it on buying a TV at this price.

more money than sense springs to mind for anyone paying this much for a 42" tv!

I pad £1500 for me 42" tv and thought that was way expensive for a tv , no way i would pay almost £3000 for one.

I was after this tv myself before i knew what the price was , glad i never waited now as i wouldnt mind paying £2000 at a stretch but anything more and its to much

I wouldnt exclude cash poor , as i know some people who are quite wealthy and wouldnt dream of spending this much on a tv which may only last a few years.

Such a con, you pay an extra couple of grand for a £800 tv with few gimmicky lights round the side.

although I do think this is a little extreme....yu are not getting the same screen for £800....this is Full HD resolution which many of the sub £1000 ( and some above) 42 inch panels just cant display. There are a few Pioneer screens (that I consider the best on the market) that cost around this mark and in honesty I would buy those first.......I paid £3000 for my first plasma three years ago now.....and its still going strong now...so if you are keep this for 5 years plus...its not the end of the world to pay for a quality screen, and most of the Phlips screens Ive seen demo'd have looked amazing.

OR......you could buy the 42 inch and go over to www.neon-lights.co.uk/ and buy yourself the kit for £75 and have the same..ish effect at a fraction of the price!!!

thats what i've done and it works a treat!!!! hahah and i'm £2000 up!! now thats HOT!

I got a pioneer Plasma Kuro tv and you can get these at a good price now so i would like at one of them before going with this Philips , i think the lights all around the frame would be some what of a put of when trying to watch a good film.

I remember peeps paying £10 - 15,000 for the first Plasma TV's (B&O).

But that was for NEW technology, though.

That was about 8-10 years ago (I think?)

I saw one of these on display in Currys, had a great big black line down the middle and they had been waiting for the part for weeks. I told them it was a marvellous advert.
