Has any meat (chicken) eater tried these to use in a curry? Curious as be much cheaper than filleted chicken.

if you are a meat eater then you wont find it as good as meat although it does have a meat type texture it doesn't absorb the sauce

Quorn mince on the other hand is better IMHO than meat mince :thumbsup:

^^^ Quorn mince in something like bolognaise or chilli doesn't taste any different imo due to the sauce!

The Quorn chicken style "pieces" are really tasty! They have an almost smoky flavour - I've had these chicken fillets a couple of times, but they're a bit small, prob can't use them for just grilling like you would with a chicken breast.

The Quorn chicken style pieces are dead good in a Patak's Madras curry sauce!:thumbsup:

I used to cook with quorn most of the week, as I was childminding a vegetarian family and would cook the dinner each evening (for my cookery-hating friend) and would have dinner with them. As stated above, the quorn pieces are better to use in a curry. They are not massively dissimilar to over cooked chicken breast meat, but you can tell the difference. They don't absorb flavour much, but they do work as something to fill you up and the taste isnt offensive. I used to use supermarket jar curry sauces with them, and add some onions and peppers. Theyre okay with jars of oyster/black bean sauce etc, too. I suppose you could use the fillets, since they're on offer, but as they are a bit thinner than the chunks, I would be careful stirring it, as they might fall apart a bit during cooking.

I fry/grill them first, slice them thin at an angle and then add to a sauce which definitely helps them to absorb flavours.

I make chicken for wraps but frying in a little oil, adding soy, ginger, garlic, chilli and honey. Wont the honey make the spices stick?

the problem isn't with the spices or sauces sticking, that's no problem at all. The problem with the thick pieces of Quorn is that the sauce is only on the outside and the flavours don't go through to the middle which stay unflavoured. the quorn mince being smaller doesn't suffer in the same way :)

They still on offer today, got about 5 packets in now and just had a quorn tikka!
