good price, any quorn products at a £1 is a good deal as they are quite expensive usually.

I agree that they can be unless cooked properly.

They are an important source of low fat protein for veggies whose diet can be poor in protein or high in fat if protein comes from cheese, nuts etc.

(Not suitable for people with egg allergies.)

This all sounds a bit to quorny to me so freezing cold with extra ice.

Lol obviously not enough veggies here at the moment. I understand people that can't eat meat for allergy reasons but everyone else....... Sure if you don't think it's ethical because of how the animals are killed buy the more expensive meat!

its not just how they are killed its the fact that they are killed oO

Meat eater here. Reasons I eat quorn chicken over chicken:

Most times when chicken is use in cooking the other ingredients cover up the mild chicken flavour, e.g. pies, noodles, mexican. i have fooled people into thinking quorn chicken is the real deal, its not that hard to do.

Cheaper
higher quality control ie not injected with water / jelly
safer to cook with

reason i eat chicken and not quorn:

if the dish does not have strong flavours like a warm salad for example

These have been at £1 for a while in my Tesco, but great offer non-the-less. Definitely recommended to everyone. Also they have an offer of "3 for £5" at Tesco on the refrigerated Quorn products, extreme savings with that.

+1 from me and I agree that part of this is that they are killed at all but it's also the way that meat is manufactured. Organic has a better quality life cycle but even organic meat is slaughtered in factory meat abattoirs and the treatment and conditions in there are unacceptable. Add to this the amount of antibiotics and various other chemicals that get ingested by these animals and you have some of the reasons why I choose to be vegetarian.

Why do we eat faux meat, that's easy to answer. Many of us gave up eating flesh for some if not all of the reasons mentioned above and likely other reasons too: not because we didn't like the taste or texture. Faux meat also gives us the opportunity to make things like chicken casserole or bangers and mash without having to kill an animal to do so.

Meat eaters eat meat by choice and we don't eat meat by choice. I don't vilify your life-style choices and so please don't vilify mine.

Meat eater here too but agree with jimjim79.

It's really hard to tell the difference between quorn & chicken pieces in a curry or with pasta sauce.
Quorn fills you up more than chicken & provides less calories.

Chicken now is NOT like chicken used to be, there is hardly any taste unless you buy the highly priced free range - even then it doesn't taste anywhere near so good very often.

Have you watched some of the programs on the quantity of fat (horrendous) or water that is in our chicken nowadays? Chicken used to be thought of as a 'good for you' meat - not any more it isn't! - Unless you pay way over the odds & hope you get one that actually is 'free range'.

We use Quorn quite a bit now. I also use the beef style mince in lasagne & pies. You can hardly tell it's not meat - you just don't get the gristle & fat, can't say I miss that! Fooled many people who have been astonished when they realised what they've eaten.

I do enjoy a good steak every now & again but for any food with sauce Quorn substitutes extremely well, is more filling & far better for you.

This is from someone who ALWAYS had to have meat with a main meal - didn't feel I'd had a 'proper' meal without meat. Now I'm more than happy to go without meat as long as I have Quorn.

NO I'm NOT going to go veggie as I do believe we are meant to be omnivores. However I do think maybe we all eat too much meat - to the detriment of our health. I'm doing my bit to cut back to the pack of cards sized portion we should all cut down to for better health.

Why should we vegetarians have to explain ourselves to anyone? For everyone criticising us it's just a personal choice guys, get over it. I am sure that you would find it really tedious if every time a meat deal was posted it was swamped with antagonising comments from vegetarians rather than comments discussing the deal itself. If you are not interested in the deal then please MOVE ON.

Why? The important bit is that with 'pretend chcicken' nothing was killed. Most vegetarians like meat they just don't like where it comes from. I just don't understand why some people can't get this concept.

Love all quorn products (except the mince, that's really awful!) so will be getting some of these. I'm not a vegetarian, I just like quorn stuff so why not eat it? It's much lower in cals than the meat versions (obviously!) so that's a big added bonus when you are watching the pounds :)

When did you last try the mince? It's better now than it used to be.
