Just restocking the freezer and noticed that Iceland have a few good offers on Quorn.
I've highlighted the Quorn roast but they also have the burgers (6) and sausages (10) for a £1.

Hope this helps someone :-)

Why do you eat a meat substitute if your a veggie? Surely it would make more sense to stay away from all foods like this? Just wondering.

Many vegetarians like the taste of meat, for example, but they abstain from eating it for ethical reasons. Seems pretty obvious, no?

It doesn't taste like meat...gives you protein though which veggies need! silly statement. We love quorn!

Protein is nutritionally essential every day, in order to survive vegetarians must consume protein. Therefore since they don't consume meat they must consume a substitute protein source. This Quorn roast is fashioned in a cylindrical shape, whether it resembles the shape of meat which has been artificially moulded in to that shape is immaterial.

I'm a long standing vegetarian of nearly 15 years as an experiment I recently consumed beef, pork, chicken, duck and fish. Only chicken and fish had any taste I could bear if I was going to reintroduce animal produce back in to my diet. This is of course anecdotal.

Meat eaters have a misconception that they have the monopoly on food shape. May I suggest that the artificial shapes that meat is formed in to are thus so because they work, they are tried and tested shapes. The manufacturers of meat substitutes, could try triangular burgers or square roasts, however emulation of shape which is proven to be the most economic seems common sense to me.

Bet you wish you had stuck to Celery now Fish! Once you get that craving for meatblood again, there is no turning back! 8)

This is a "family roast" size, but have eaten these as a meal for 1, so I am either a fat glutton or they have got no idea how much a "family" consumes at meal time! :D

That's called a LAPSE not an experiment...

I have these alongside the rest of my family's traditional roast and I think it's really nice. Usually plenty left over and makes great sandwiches with chili relish or " treat" protein to mix into lunchbox salads too.

This stuff keeps for ages in the freezer and there's no risk of salmonella or other poultry problems.

Never seen them this cheap - great deal. Well done op.

You can go down to the woods at midnight and catch your own quorn, that's when they come out to graze, but they are quick little devils and can get nasty if cornered, but don't tell mo farrah X)

Try Iceland sausages 40 for £2. Not much meat in them but 5.5g protein each.

Does having vegetables with your roast dinner make you a closet vegetarian? ;)

No, I don't actively avoid vegetables. It's part of my diet.

I feel sorry for vegetarians. its almost like watching alcoholics desperate for a drink but they know they can't....

And its a choice! Bizzare

erm, you're assuming people are veggie because they don't like meat... when there are many possible reasons.

It seems that a few people on here want to debate the right or wrongs of being a veggie. They need to remember this site is for hot deals, and this is a good deal.

Thank you, and you shouldn't pay much attention to the likes of Gollywood, I suspect you and I and other Quorn eating veggies will be fitter, slimmer and generally healthier. The burger munching critics probably have mad cow disease anyway.
