Róisín Murphy - Overpowered CD - £1.99 Delivered @ That's Entertainment

cicobuffcicobuff

Fantastic price for Róisín Murphy's (Moloko) second album "Overpowered" 2007, not readily available at many retailers and £8.97 at Amazon & HMV.

`Overpowered' is the second album from Róisín Murphy, formerly of Moloko. A heady mix of electronic dance anthems, soul-stirring pop songs, deep, dark funk and quirky lyrical genius, `Overpowered' is a thrilling and contemporary marriage of edgy pop and irresistible disco.
Róisín co-wrote and co-produced the entire album, bringing her own vision and focus to these songs whilst working with a variety of producers, writers and mixers to create what is without doubt her finest record; unpredictable, creative, inventive, exciting and hugely accessible.

Working with the likes of Seiji, Andy Cato (Groove Armada), Jimmy Douglass, Ill Factor, and Parrot & Dean, Róisín has brought her love of the dance floor right to the very heart of the album. `Overpowered' is the place where pop meets dance and gives birth to a glitter-drenched masterpiece. This is one of the albums of the year - a breathtaking modern classic.

Very, very good album. Interesting to see someone with genuine talent do a full-on pop album with a dozen different producers. Some fantastic tracks on here.

There's something inherently sad about a middle-aged artist desperately trying to recapture former glories, not realising their 15 minutes of fame passed 10 years ago.

Brilliant album still listening to it 5 years on. Absolute bargain at that price!

The same could be levelled at Alison Goldfrapp - but no, this album is an absolute pop gem. It was sorely overlooked by the public and not marketed particularly well by her record company. The radio-pushers didn't get many tracks onto playlists either. Her style was four years before her time - she could have easily become the UK's answer to Bjork. Overpowered/Let Me Know were massive on the club scene, mainly because the producers she worked with are powerhouse DJs - like Herve, Seiji, Loose Cannons etc.

Oh, and the other reason she didn't do so well was because she faffed around too much with her record company, EMI. That's usually the death-knell.

Cold. Putting random albums from Thats Entertainment is cheap way of trying to get heat.

    Odd comment.

Firstly it was not random, wanted to buy this album, anywhere that had it in stock online was £8.97 +

Secondly, as a veteran member of HUKD for 5 years why would I be worried about "cheap ways of getting heat"?

It's a good price for a leftfield pop album that people obviously appreciate the price for....you posted a deal from Poundland on a John Motson autobiography, do you feel the same way about your own posted deal?

Been after this for a while.
Not used TE before, so will see how it goes.
    Thanks for posting.

TE seem to have two versions - one with a blue sticker, one with an orange sticker; aside from the sticker colour, anybody know what the difference is?

I was wondering that myself, same with Amazon they have the two..I assume one may be a digipak cardboard sleeve and the other maybe standard jewel case.

£2 is a good price for a 2nd hand CD though? lol you're not going to find one much cheaper than that, if you think you will other than scouring bootfairs and hoping you get lucky at poundland you're kidding yourself.

Are you saying after someones had a hit album they should give up on making music? If you're honestly suggesting that I think you have no true appreciation for music. Chart position doesn't suggest quality of music, and if you knew Roisin Murphy's music well you'd know she's willing to try a lot of different things out.
