For enthusiasts/collectors I guess, so please don't vote cold just because it's not your 'thing'. Found a 15% off voucher (HSBC15) which makes it a good price considering this is not only quite rare to find but considerably cheaper than only the few who do sell it. There's also a generous 13% off quidco which would bring the price down to just £221.11

Why have a boring old techy looking webcam when you can have R2D2 at your disposal? This daft droid is not only a remote control wireless webcam, but will also play your web based audio, has a digital camera, can be used as an internet phone, has voice record, wirelessly transmits images, and has possibly the coolest remote control unit in existence. What looks exactly like the hilt of a Lightsaber is your ticket to control.

Bristling with buttons and glowing red when on (and blue when using it as a phone), this wireless remote gives you access to all of R2D2's functions, and even has Lightsaber sound effects. Whether you're using this top piece of kit as an internet phone, a digital camera, a movie camera (great for trundling around the office filming what's going on out of sight) or as a remote control security droid, the R2D2 Wireless Webcam is the most vital piece of equipment for every Jedi warrior.

Features:
R2D2 is both a wireless webcam with adjustable angles and a motorised 'bot travelling forward, backwards and he even rotates as controlled by the remote.
R2D2's remote is styled like Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber and when you rotate the handle a control pad is revealed so that the lightsaber doubles as a Skype phone.
The lightsaber has light and sound effects from the films.
The lightsaber's stand connects to your PC's USB port allowing R2D2 to be controlled wirelessly.
The webcam is pre-loaded with R2D2 sound effects.
The webcam has a zoom in/out capability and a CMOS Sensor of 628 x 582 pixels.
The webcam works in both audio and video real time.
All software is provided and even enables R2D2 to be controlled from a second PC.
Suitable for ages 16 years+.
Suitable for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP.
Requires 8 x AA Batteries (included), two USB cables, Installation CD, instruction manual.

Size:
Web cam 20 x 13 x 14cm
Lightsaber: 29 x 7cm

Hardly a reason to vote cold though, please post a cheaper deal if there is one - I couldn't find a cheaper deal.

Am not sure that it's a hot deal; it is vastly reduced but still over-priced for those of us who can't afford it and for what it is. Is it really value for money? These maybe valid reasons for voting cold?

Many Star Wars fans/collectors at least would probably say it's value for money. Based simply on what it is - and compared to prices elsewhere - it's a good price IMO. Why vote cold just because it's something a lot of us of us would love but can't afford?

It looks good so I've voted hot.

I can see why people vote cold though, other than the novelty factor it's probably very overpriced for what it is.

Totally agree, sadly that's true of most branded goods (like the r2d2 projector). Still, like I said in the description, it'll prob only appeal to diehard fans/collectors so if only 1 person buys, the post has served it's purpose. (Am told there's a 25% off voucher floating about, if so I'll be buying it myself, esp with 13% quidco too!)

So, an internet controllable, mobile webcam that your friends can use to prowl round your house, along with the light sabre remote/phone. Seems like a good deal to me. Yes its expensive still, but then what collectables aren't these days? Hot.

The question of whether this is a good deal for me is a resounding no. For heavens sake it's a glorified webcam. Even though one finds an item cheap it doesn't necessarily mean the item is good value or a good deal. I'm a star wars fan and woudl never buy this in a million years, even if I had the money

Voted cold here.

ok not voted on this just not my thing, but if anyone whats one of these take a look on ebay there is one bidding at £50.00 at moment

just search for Nikko R2D2 Webcam ok this is not a deal but if your after one and you got more money than you know what to do with you may pick this up cheap - NO ITS NOT MINE

Voting hot on this because it's a massive saving for anyone who is going to buy this, I love Star Wars but not into the whole collecting little figures and stuff but alot of fans and collectors buy these novelty gadgets, So unless it has a major fault(catches fire/explodes) I'm voting on the savings and not wether I think it's worth the money or if I would buy it HOT HOT.

Bleh, cosmetics. Do I vote all makeup deals cold because they're useless to me? No, I just don't vote as I wouldn't be voting on the price itself but the product/price relation.

I think this is pricey for a webcam but the whole point is it's R2D2.
