Yes, DealExtreme is fine. I've had loads of stuff from them. May take a while to arrive, but it does.

Oh, and could that cause any damage to the DS?? :?

It may be worth splashing out an extra £1 or 2 and getting one which is SDHC compatible so you can use bigger memory cards such as this...

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.21577

which also comes with a microSD card reader.

Yes - these are fakes in that they are not from the original R4 team but it doesn't mean they don't work. The issue with R4 cards is that there are now so many flavours of them that it can be a pain finding the right firmware to go on them. It's for that reason (amongst others) that I used to stick to Edge cards but they don't do them any more. At least not until the iEdge comes out. An Acekard is a good one to go for if you want an easy to use card with no ambiguity over which firmware to use.

It wont do any damage. However, it will be a clone of the true R4 card, so you may get problems. No idea how reliable these clones are though.

Ah Ok, thanks hun:thumbsup:

As they're cheaply made, a faulty electrical connection could result in it causing damage to a fuse e.g. blowing a fuse in your DS and it breaking.

I bought loads of the R4i cards and tried 3 Normal R4`s dont get this one get the better one that takes the larger micro SD cards.

These will not even see a 4gig i had to use 1gig sticks in these. And the ones i got were proper ones.

Better off with this and workd on DSi`s as well:

Actually its reported that clones of R4s that accept SDHC cards can cause damage, there have been a number of fuses blown in DS's because of this. Real R4s are getting old hat these days, not worth risking getting a clone R4 because of bad build and voltage issues. Basically steer clear of R4s full stop...real are dated, clone are risky.

Much safer buying a legit Edge Card these days, they are very good cards, great value...this is false economy, and DealExtreme are notorious for their fake cack.

I bought 20 of these not that long ago. All work 100% no issues with any yet.

Bought a DSTT (instead of R4) card off DealExtreme about a year ago, cost me around £20 I think, genuine and fantastic. No issues what so ever and works like a dream!

Yes, but a dodgy contact will blow a fuse inside the DS. I had one from DX which was poorly made and when used in a DS blew an internal fuse rendering the DS useless. Didn't power on, didn't even light up when charging. Rather stupidly tried it in another DS and that blew too, oops. Both were replaced (without mentioning how it broke), but beware almost all retailers are instructed that they have to go back to Nintendo to be repaired, rather than just replaced on the spot.

So where does it end on here?

You can have them as a deal but can't sell them second hand in the for sale section.

Is it legal to sell them within the UK? Is it legal to import them?

Either way you need to decide!
#29
thanks just ordered 2 for the kids.

I’ve bought from Deal extreme many times and always had a great service, there R4 cards have always worked well with no issues. Would recommended as others have and paying a little extra for the ones with the card readers but Deal extreme seem pretty good to me. PS there delivery takes 2-3 weeks so be prepared to wait.
#31
Not sure how either of the 2 sites here could ever be real R4 cards, since the team disbanded/went out of business over a year ago..

Anyway, looks like a great price, if no damage is caused to your DS, Heat added

By the way, and sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone have a reliable/genuine and reasonable seller for Acekard 2i?

The hangar any good?

Thanks

after posting a request on here last week I bought one for £16.99 (with sd card and reader). I have had a cheaper one before but stopped working after about 8 months - but the way my kids are they could well lose them before that anyway!! so I have ordered a couple for spairs

Anyone know the cheapest place for the ltitle sd cards?
#33
I don't know much about these.....will they work on a DSi ? As my little sister has one.

Ordered one anyway...now have 8p left in PayPal...

No, they are for ( or is that r4 :p ) the original ds and ds lite...

There is a link in this thread already for the dsi version from the same website
#35
thanks for that, looking for these for my kids, will be good if they work ok, no reason to think otherwise for that price

Yes of course it's illegal to sell them - any chipping copyright circumvention device is illegal to sell

Hey guys,

I bought 3 of this for brother, sister and one for me a while back from the same site ( i think i paid more, not sure! ) , they work just fine and are great, yeah they do only work on DS and you need R4i if you want it on DSI , anyways, here is the latest frimware for it, simply download and extract in the root of the memory card, this is the only one that worked for me with this cards:

It is illegal to sale them, not to buy them....

Hope that answers your question

I bought an acekard i several months ago from deal extreme for about £12, took a while to arrive but works like a charm.

Can't really go wrong with this for £2.47 but bare in mind, this one is limited to 2GB memory and it will also never work in a DSi
