There are a lot of insurance companies out there that will insure any 21 yr old who has held his licence for more than 2 years on a car for 1 day for around £10.

Well RAC will insure 2 drivers on a car up to insurance group 17 and worth less than £50000 for £10+insurance premium tax (should be around £1 but correct me if I am wrong) but the best thing is that quidco are offering £10 cashback which makes it around £1 for 2 drivers on a car (possibly for a day at the weekend or a daytrip somwhere?)

well, firstly quidco aint a guarantee, secondly this promotion wont run forever, thirdly doing this 365 times might count as 'abuse' but nothing stopping you from doing it a few times?
#3
The RAC will probably process any second attempt as a renewal. No quidco for renewals.
#4
perfect deal if buying a car off ebay or something and have a long drive home, or if you are a trader. heat added.

isn't it illegal to have two insurance policies on one car? i.e. if someone already has insurance on the car then to for you to get insured you have to be added to their insurance. so is this only a good deal if you buy a new car or already use RAC insurance?

you can have additional TEMPORARY insurance on a car.

so you could borrow your mates car for the day and use this offer.

this is the same insurance system that norwich union uses,

and i wont let me get insured becuase ive used up my maximum number of days in 12 months (which i think is about 6 months)

the above refers to getting insured on the same car,

non-trade insurance companies will not allow you to insure a car twice though??

this is temporary insurance. one or two additional persons for a few days (1 day for the purpose of this deal) is allowed.
#15
Would this work for learner drivers to be insured for 1 day, and have a day driving about with someone else in the car obviously.

no. need to be 21 yrs old. 12mnths licence holder.

Similar to dayinsure.com which costs around £11 a day.

so what happens if you have an accident when covered by two insurance companies? surely they are both going to say the other is liable to pay?
#19
also on yahoo answers someone has asked this question and the reply was

I work in insurance and you cannot have two policies on the same car at the same time. In the insurance industry that is known as dual insured.
Most insurance companies will only allow you to insure a car if it is registered and owned by yourself anyway.
What you will need to do is get alternative quotes from other companies that will allow you to be a named drive on his policy.
I hope this helps.

So maybe worth checking with your existing insurer that you will still be insured! still a good deal if you have bought a new car though to drive it home!

Not allowed to tax using this as certificate states that.
#27
I never even knew day insurance existed. I need to borrow my mums car whilst mine goes into the garage next week so this will suit me perfectly. Thanks
#28
I took out breakdown cover with RAC, never got the cashback.
#29
Good deal, but isn't there a convention to exclude Quidco from the deal price?
#30
I think you get 7 days fully comp insurance when you do a £9.99 RAC HPI check, so could possibly use that too if you wanted a longer duration.
#31
I am guessing the policy excess will be pretty high indeed to prevent any small claims is it?
#32
For those wanting to use someones car check as your policy may well cover you to drive another car. Note that it will be 3rd party only so the owner of the car needs to check if repairs would be covered by the owners insurance of there is damage/theft etc.

But this is certainly a great deal. H&R to You!

it says clearly in the title AFTER quidco.....

this is a good deal anyway with 2 drivers being insured while other companies will only insure 1. but the main emphasis in this deal is on the quidco cashback and then the remainder is negligible

Even better if the car's a long way from home, and takes more than 1 day to get home. Can anyone confirm if this is valid:thumbsup:

Also, for the original £1 for 1 day cover that the OP posted... does anyone know if this covers drivers in Northern Ireland (who are usually excluded fom Churchill / More Than etc. etc. policies)...

I'm not a lazy sod I swear  I've searched on the RAC site and found no answer to the Northern Ireland thing... and some broken links on the site too... not good for a large cirm like the RAC

Thanks in advance guys (currently looking on eBay for a cheap 4X4 for road *and* field use... maybe even a bit of fun ;-))

Cheers,
John

http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehicle-checks/car-data-check/

I can't see it unless it was an old offer?

A few years back, eBay used to give you a free day's insurance if you bought a car from them.

I like the way you've added your quidco link to the post. :p

no actually it is NOT a referral link, it just makes sure that quidco validates it and that it registers the cookie from quidco. i have NO gain.

Hot, needed day insurance for tomorrow, wouldn't have thought of Quidco. Nice one.

Bought a policy today £11.55, lets see if it tracks
