Here is my 2nd only deal so; There's nothing worse than breaking down. But if you do, RAC has more than 1,600 patrols ready to rescue you, whether you're at the shops or on the motorway. We'll always try to fix your car at the roadside, but if we can't we'll make getting it repaired as painless as possible.

For genuine tracked transactions completed wholly online, you can earn:

£8 for a new completed European breakdown policy
£25 for a new completed UK breakdown policy
£80 for a new completed option 3 breakdown policy

If I am correct when you go via the quidco link you also get option 4 cover for the same price as option 3 Online price is £108.80 - minus the £80 cashback means you only pay £28.80 for top cover!!!!

What is a renewal?

I was a member but canceled last month, would I be classed as a renewal?

Wouldn't of thought so. I think it's more if you'rd contiunued

I've been with RAC for nearly five years now. It's quite disappointing how there is more incentives to attract new customer than there is to keep existing ones. That's exactly what I said to RAC when I received their renewal quote last year and guess what?, they did match the offer and I got option 4 for £99 so it might be worth a try.

Not sure about the QuidCo though, I'll try it this year, my contract with them is due for renewal in December.

But to be honest the cover paid for itself even though my car only broke down once so far. The gearbox failed and I was 50 miles away from home; they towed the car away, took me home and arranged a rental car for three days. This would have cost me hundreds of pounds if I was to pay for it myself.

anyone established if you do get the £80 cashback for choosing option 4 or is it just option 3?

OK, I'm very P***ed off now, I took out an RAC option 3 policy on Wednesday when it was £21 cashback.

Good deal for those who get it.

I never renew any breakdown policy. I always sign up as a new member!

What do you mean ? :?

Is there a chance that i will not get my £80 cashback from quidco ?

I am completely new to Quidco & was looking forward to trying it out with this particular offer. You have got me hesitant to go ahead & purchase the cover. £108 without the cashback is something I would rather not have.

It's unlikely but yes. I've had 3 transaction that never paid, though one of those was for a company that left Quidco a week after I bought stuff from them.

This post may help members new to quidco!

I've been a member of quidco for well over a year now and purchased via them on numerous occasions. Everything to date has been tracked and paid. There is no reason for anyone to suspect that the RAC won't pay out because qiudco will. However, incase of possible conflicts, I do recommend that cookies are deleted before you access the quidco site.

If anyone is new to quidco, it might be worth knowing that it can take quite a few hours to a day to have a purchase showing as being tracked. It takes much longer for a validation and payment can take a few months. I'm definatly quid in.

If you purchase from sites that have shopping baskets, delete any stored items you want to buy until you go via quidco.

Remember, the RAC are reputable!
#14
Why is this being voted cold? It's the cheapest option for this level of breakdown cover even before the cashback.
#15
Just renewed my breakdown full cover including Europe under £50 from More than.

They quoted about £120 for me, they were probably trying to screw me for more money because I drive an 11 year old car.

Option 3 is currently being redirected to option 4 so you might not receive 80 cashback. I didn't risk it.

I telephoned the RAC and explained the situation with quidco and the redirection. I negotiated an offer which was 80 discount off of the retail price of option 3 with a free upgrade to option 4.

I now have option 4 for 56 as I was not confident to get this for 28.80

Thanks to keefrto fot the OP.

Voted Hot!

Cold voters must be frustrated existing members! Your turn will come when your renewal is due. Simply threaten the join the AA and get the price down.

Thanks for this! I have had a go - 14 days to cancel if there are any problems.

i've signed up via online, will cancel if any problems tracking

i hate the fact you have to authorise them to take a renewal payment unless you cancel, i know so many people who've been stung by that
#23
Good luck getting that cashback !!!!

RAC are one of the worst on quidco for not paying out, I myself have been stung twice by them not paying out.
#24
Don't bother guys. Mine has tracked as £25 and for RAC insurance not the £80 for roadside cover. Not worth the trouble of starting a ticket as rthirlby said above they have a bad record as it is - not got the time or the energy to fight for the ££££

Voted cold because it's not a real bargain.

It's only a possible bargain, if you get the cashback.

How did you manage to explain QuidCo to them?! I just tried and they hadn't got a clue what I was talking about!
#27
i always phone and negotiate, i have not ever paid more than £50 for the top cover ( not the euro option). each year they send a renewal letter and i cancel then phone and haggle.
as i have never needed to call on their services i guess they give me a good deal?
#28
Gotta go with hot on this, spent a few mins on the phone and the guy did Solution 3 cover for £28.80 (wouldn't go for Solution 4 upgrade).

Can't argue with that, and no worrying about Quidco payouts.

Cheers OP.
#29
I've tried speaking to the RAC and they said they couldn't do it over the phone.

Hung up and tried again with a different operator, and they said they weren't able to match the offer without a reference code.

For those that managed to do get the cover at the £28.80 offer, how did you go about getting it at the discounted rate?

Thanks
#30
I just directed the guy to the Quidco site with the offer on, he went away for about 4mins to discuss it and came back saying they would Honor it for Solution 3, if it helps I spoke with Sumit extension 33792

Has anyone else managed to get this deal over the phone as I'm having probs.
Sumit at RAC is not in today so have had to speak to someone else.

I have trouble over the phone as well. Got the operator to go to the supervisor & he came back saying i would have to go & place order online to get Quidco discount to apply.

BTW Online price for solution 3 is now showing as £94.40. That would mean if a Quidco discount was applied it would only cost £14.40 ?!!

**EDIT** Advice sought.

I have just gone ahead & placed order online via Quidco. I have taken some comfort knowing that there is a 14 day cancellation period with RAC.

It's been half an hour & nothing has shown up in my Quidco as yet under My Earnings>Transactions.
This is the first time i have used Quidco. Can someone please tell me roughly what should happen once i have placed the order with the merchant.

I logged into Quidco using IE7 & clicked to be referred to the RAC merchants offer. On completing the RAC order form for solution 3 I verified I had Quidco & RAC cookies in the 'temporary internet files' folder.

When I applied last week at the lower cashback rate it tracked and validated the following day, can't see why this offer would be any different.

I spent quite some time explaining. I've been in this situation a few times with other companies. I suggested the RAC sales rep to go on line while we were on the phone and gave him www.quidco.com to key in. With his managers approval, he cut me a very good deal.

If you ever come across any sales rep who's company is listed on quidco and that rep denies ever hearing about them, then ask for the manager. If that manager says the same then ask for mail order manager. Any company registered with quidvo will have someone who's heard of them and knows how it works. It's up to you if you're determined or not to find the person who knows. Then you can start the negociation.

This isn't clear kameio! How much was you charged?

I signed up yesterday for Option 3. Within a matter of hours the transaction had tracked, although its only showing as £21 instead of the £80 as advertsied on Quidco?. :-(

I tried to submit an Earnings ticket/query via Quidco, but the site says I need to wait 14 days before I can do this, at which point my option to cancel the RAC would have expired :x

So I'm not sure what to do now, as from the comments above phoning the RAC directly would not get me very far either. :?:

And Hi by the way, this is my first post after reading the forums for a few months now :)

Obviously, but you can also get discount over the phone outside of quidco!

No, you will not get £80 cashback as this offer relates to the original price of option3. You will find on the same RAC web page as their options & prices, a line that states: Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. I telephoned the RAC who said the £80 quidco cashback is only applicable to the original price of option3

It's highly unlikely that you'll receive a payment within 14 days! It can take quite a few hours to a day to have a purchase showing as being tracked. It takes much longer, sometimes months for validation and payment can take a few months.

Thanks

**EDIT**
Just checked Quidco & is now showing only £21 as validated - same as lancelot.
Time to cancel RAC before i forget altogether & loose out complelty. Becoming too much of headache.
NOT a Hot deal.
