good find.

Is this the same one that woolworths were selling for £19.99? I'm sure when I took a look at the one in woolworths it didn't have the compressor??
#3
Anyone know what kind of wattage this would throw out (continuous) when used as power source?
#4
just to let you know the woolworths one didn't / doesn't have the compressor and was £24.99

I meant to put this deal up, bought one today they come up on the till @ £14.99 but are listed in the flyer (Final Clearance items or something with a black header) as £12.99 (which is what I paid)
#6
So apart from blowing up my airbed, what can I use this for? What's it do?
#7
Will this trickle charge a car battery please?

My father in law bought this form Argos a few years ago when it was branded as a Chalanger (Argos own brand). Its [email protected]

Takes ages to charge and does not hold its charge either. In my opinion avoid this thing like the plague!

For an air bed pump Tesco do a good one for around a tenner which is great for air beds but does not give you the ability to blow up car tires etc.

These actually are barnded as Hilka on the product and though they come up at £14.99 on the stores till show them the instore flyer displaying the price of £12.99 and they will over-ride the price to £12.99. This price is valid until 7th August i believe according to flyer!

Argos are getting lax on updating prices as the guy in front of me was getting the canon printer thats reduced from £49.99 to £19.99 and that came up at £24.99 which it has been interim although it has been £9.99 then £19.99 then £24.99 then back down to £19.99!

I bought one of these when they were £19.99.

Just returned it - it was awful. Couldn't get it to hold any charge or do any of the things listed.

Thanks. I won't bother then.

saw this advertised and had to register to reply. (love this website btw).
I bought this item in the last sale argos had about 5 weeks ago and it was used once and never used again. It doesn't hold its charge and the meter for pressure doesnt show the correct reading. It makes a lot of noise though which is what its good for ;)
Avoid this item, I would prob spend a bit more and buy a michelin one from Halfords or something.
#20
It probably does hold its charge but....

Maintenance free sealed lead acid 5Ah battery.

5AH is ****** all in battery terms, especially when you consider 12v equipment tends to use more current.

I recently purchased a compressor for blowing up Tyres, airbeds, foot/beachballs, etc for £2.99 from QD stores.

Plugs into cigarette lighter socket and away it goes.

available anywhere from between 4-8 quid.

5AH is quite a large SLA battery. Not really sure what you expect but any more and this thing would be extremely heavy. The battery itself would cost at least £10 if bought seperately.

Remember a car battery is typically only 30AH - 50AH and they can weigh from about 12kg to over 20kg...

Weights not the issue. 5AH is pretty useless, even my laptop battery is rated 4AH and that only lasts a couple of hours if i'm lucky. Look how many people moaned at the one from Maplin the other week because they weren't powerful enough and they are 17AH (And I can lift one with my little finger lol).

Oh and the standard battery in my car is 63AH and thats not even in a diesel(type 097 if you want to check lol).

Everyone is getting caught up in the specs of this thing.

It is rubbish do not buy it! It does not do what it says on the tin (well box actually).

Keep voting it as hot but if you are doing so I suggest that the title is changed to Doorstop - £12.99 (was £39.99) @ Argos !

You have been warned (again)!
#25
Why is it that when something gets reduced at Argos, it tends to get dire reviews? :-(
Is that the only reason they reduce these things ie. to dump dodgy stock?
They never reduce iPods or anything that gets raving reviews do they?
#26
I bought a couple of these at £12.99 each yesterday. Opened up one, charged it overnight, and it's now charging my mobile phone. I'll connect one up to my solar panel later :)
Nothing wrong with the one i'm using at the moment. I'll plug the other one into my cigerette socket in the car for more free on-tap power.
I'd say well worth £12.99. I figure that, at worst, if they don't cut it i'll just return them as faulty.

 I wonder if you guys can help me - I have one of these 12v compressors I bought from Halfords a while ago, the kind that you have to plug into your cigarette jack for it to work but the 12v jack is broken and i dont know where or how to get a replacement jack.

I dont really want to buy a new one when i am a 100% sure it works, if only i can replace the broken 12v jack! :-(

Any help or comment, will be greatly appreciated!

Thanx!

Try poundland or similar. They sell doubler sockets etc, just take the plug off and use it to replace your broken one:thumbsup:
