#3
Just joined up. Thanks

i'm with AA at the minute but hopefully a similar offer will be on next year, i'll be switching to RAC. Great cashback rate!
#5
Never used cashback before.

Full price £45.00
Online discount £17.00
You pay £28.00

Is £18 what I pay then I get £23 cash back?

Someone pls tell me how this works.
How long until I get the cash back?
#6
Can you phone and cancel immediately to stop them taking money for the next year or do I do it nearer the time the first year expires?
#7
you pay £28.00 by going through the cash back web site after 1-3 months you will get £23.00
cash back from rac meaning you would have paid £5.00 for the breakdown cover
remember cash back is not gauranteed .

No, the RAC quote is independent of cashback. You pay £28 now and in a couple of months you'll get £23 back from RAC (paid to your Topcashback account.)
#9
Thanks, joined up through TCB, now hoping it tracks OK - went for the £28 offer, so if topcashback tracks and pays out will have only cost me £5 for a years cover, excellent!! :)
#10
The Topcashback on my RAC breakdown cover I did before this deal never tracked, and it's now a nightmare trying to get it tracked. Hell, TCB haven't even got my £2 from Mymemory and HMV from 4 months ago paid in yet.
#11
This is very basic cover, isn't it - probably worth noting its limitations:

We'll fix your vehicle at the roadside, as long as you're over ¼ mile away from home. In the unlikely event we can't fix your vehicle we'll tow you to an approved garage within 10 miles.

You can get more comprehensive cover though with RAC and get cashback through TopCashback.

mine says
If we can't fix your vehicle at the roadside, we'll tow your vehicle to a nearby garage or a destination within 10 miles

Got that from the confirmation page that I printed out.

Actually is handy for me as I am very rarely more than 10 miles from either home or where a relative lives... so if it's something that can't be fixed at the roadside by RAC or a nearby garage I would just get it towed to a garage near where I or one of my family lives so that when it does get fixed it'd be easier to pick up again :)
#13
Had RAC cover when we broke down earlier this year, they kept telling us it would be another hour, then we'd wait an hour, phone up, "it'll be another hour" etc. Spent so long on hold my phone battery died. After 6 hours we left the minibus where it was and got the train home.

And I never got the cashback (through Quidco at the time), so it cost me the full amount.

If you use a cashback site, such as Quidco or topcashback then you'll need to visit the retailer via their site. This means that if you've previously made a visit, to RAC in this instance, that RAC may have left a cookie on your pc which would invalidate cashback payments to you.

If you did visit RAC 1st, then you'll need to clear the cookies from your web browser - the instructions for each browser are a little different, Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, Chrome etc.

Alternatively, you can install a new web browser on your computer, which you only use for the cashback sites, and still clearing it of cookies each time, apart from the cookie for the cashback site. You can have as many web browsers on your computer as you want, and most of us have our own favourite. I recommend Opera or Firefox, Opera being my favourite, as it's easy to use and is the current fastest browser.

The cashback sites never guarantee the cash either, and I've had problems with Quidco, and their support is pretty poor. Whilst this is a great deal, a fiver for a year's cover, it's worth knowing that you just may not get the cash back, so that you're not disappointed later.
#15
Of course, they will always increase the cashback just after I purchase mine ¬.¬
#16
really helpful.
Thanks!
#17
Once you've registered for this & got your cashback, can you upgrade the package?
banned#18
really good deal, i got RAC cover online and a £30 tyre voucher which was a real deal!
#19
Perfect timing, thanks.
#20
Great spot if RAC follow through. Quidco used to be £20 off until RAC sneakily put the following exception in "Cashback is not eligible on Vehicle Based Membership" of which this would apply. Of course it's at RAC's discretion to change the rules down the line as I found out. I'm not complaining though as had to use RAC fairly recently on holiday in Scotland and the service was nothing short of exceptional so even at £28 is a no-brainer IMO.

I went for the Greenflag cashback on TCB. I got Recovery Plus cover for my car £55 with £30 cashback so effectively £25. I know this is a lot more than £5 but it covers so much more!!

I chose the recovery Plus as it was only about £8 more than Recovery but you got an extra £10 cashback??

This covers Roadside assistance, cover at home address, Recovery to nearest garage, if car cannot be fixed by end of working day they will recover car and passengers to home address or UK destination, choice of Hire car, alternative transport costs or b&b costs (if more than 25 miles from home), cost of single train fare to collect car. £10 compensation if they don't reach you within 1 hour

Bargain, I did this a few weeks ago. The offer was slightly less generous, it worked out at £7 for the breakdown cover. Its a proper agreed thing with them, with a special logo on the offer page when you click through which gives you a bit more confidence that it'll work (plus theres proof of order number or screenshot of the page)

HOT

EDIT: Oops I actually did it through Quidco, so you may not get a special page I don't know - not that really makes a difference at all - I'm going to stop using Quidcowhen my subscription comes around again, £5 if theft when TopCashback will do it for free, although there are sometimes one or two special things you can't get, but that works either way.

Good deal! You can also get £20 cashback via Linemypocket which you can draw down as soon as its credited to your account (unlike some other cash-back sites).

you must be using a really small car or brand new i presume.. that's why u manage to get it cheap.. as far as i know, to apply Green Flag we need to enter the details of our car... etc..etc.. after that they quote us a price.. but unlike AA... RAC or others... their price are fixed.

Not really, it is a 4 year old Citroen Picasso 1.6HDi not exactly small or new! I didn't realise that the price changed dependent on car.

AutoAid is only about £32 per year and covers you + named other on any car.
#31
A bit disappointing that both AA and RAC wont allow you to have the basic option if your car is over 10 years old. You then have to spend near on £50 to get any kind of cover.

I have a Merc. and last year i got Recovery plus for me and my wife in any car (personal cover) for £75. the renewal letter came last week for £118 so i told them to cancel and went as new customer through quidco...put my wife's car details instead (toyota) and got personal cover for £74...then £30 cashback from quidco so a total of £44 for both of us in any car

All my vans were with RAC but changed them when they shut their help line down over winter becasue they could not cope - serivce was always dire with them. No for me - would not go with them for a £1
#38
Got it last night and topcashback tracked at £23.46, so cant grumble.
#39
For those who will be calling the RAC helpline form a mobile that charges for 0800 or 800 numbers
http://www.0800buster.co.uk/

So store 01255840800p0800828282 in your contacts

Anyone still waiting for their Topcashback to track?

I am and it's very unusual as I would normally have a transaction showing by now

If it doesn't show in the next few days I will cancel then maybe try again
