Race Driver: Grid is a true evolution for Codemasters' acclaimed racing series, which first appeared as the TOCA (DTM/V8) Touring Car games (1997& 2000) and became the TOCA (DTM/V8) Race Driver series (2002-2006). Challenging players to become the number one race driver in a new world of exhilarating motorsport, Race Driver: Grid takes players on a tour like never before; to beautifully realised racing locations through Europe, the U.S., Japan and beyond. The game will feature the most extensive range of events in the series, combining official circuit-based championships with road races and urban street competitions.

Looks good to me :)

Tell me about it. I've been seriously considering getting a console just for the decent/fun driving games.

I don't think Quidco does work with preorders from Shopto, as people have mentioned it several times in the past but that could be inconsistant tracking from Quidco, I don't know but I've never managed to see any confirmation from anywhere explaining there's no cashback other than for console orders but nothing to do with preorders.

I don't know if anyone noticed but if you click the banner at the top of the page, it shows preorders are automatically entered to win official GRID merchandise such as umbrellas, T-shirts, caps etc, which could be worth some money.

It looks like a good deal though, as the prices in the deal according to Nightswimmer are the lowest on all formats on top of the comp.

Going by the demo, i have taken my own advice and ordered it :-D

ok the handling might take a few laps to get into, but the Online play is great if you ask me
#8
Yeah, I downloaded the demo for the PC and was pretty impressed. It certainly has it's own 'style' that's for sure. The handling got better once I adjusted the steering settings a bit.
#9
good price cheers to op.

I am so getting this immediately after my exams. Good price too.
#15
great price, cancelled my pre-order from play and went for this.
#16
Wasn't impressed with the demo tbh, certainly not up to the standards of PGR4 and GT5P

Is GT5 available on the PC (or 360)? Nope... So unfortunately us PC gamers gotta settle for the next best thing - which is this. While not up to GT standards (I can admit that as im an avid GT fan), Grid is still pretty damn good and from what I've seen in the demo as well as the car and track lineup, the game should easily be one of the best racing titles made for the PC this decade (so pretty much of all time?)

Not played rfactor then.

Yeh, after my exams are finished 20Jun, I'll buy this too!

Heat it up!

r factor is incredable, and THE best racing sim ever made period.

that being said, for casual gamers, myself included, its just too damn unforgiving and too hard to get into if you want to tweak it.

am not saying Grid is for me, i still am undecided after the demo, but as much as i respect r factor, i know that one at least ISNT for me.

thnx :)

If by "good" you mean so easy the game might as well be driving for you, then your right.

Theres much more realistic games for the PC than GT5...
#25
I am lucky as my friend works at Codemasters in Southam, he has said that this really is one of there best efforts to date and for racing fans definitely worth the money!

I was thinking more along the lines of LFS, rF (with realFeel and a decent carfactory mod, ofc), nK Pro etc...

Thats got to be a joke, right?

Gran Turismo games are the most boring racing games ever made, they go for too much realism and sacrifice fun. Driving a real car is more fun although with current fuel prices GT5 is cheaper even if you have to buy the game twice if you get prologue.

If money is no object, the best wheel for the PC is the Logitech G25 Racing Wheel, which you can get for around the £140 - £150 mark.

Not sure to be honest at that price range.

Another I have seen recommended is the Logitech Formula Force EX Steering Wheel (£35.81 from Scan - use the AV forums offer to get free del.)

Some people complain it is a little on the small side though. Also, I am not sure if this comes with pedals. The Scan product page doesn't mention it but Logitech's page says it does.0

Driving Force Pro - may be a little hard to find but WAY better than the Driving Force Ex.

EDIT - That's the Logitech Driving Force Pro, aka DFP. Listed as a "PS2 Wheel" but install the Wingman Drivers (@ Wingmanteam.com) and it works fine on the PC. It uses a standard USB connector.
