Not as good as the earlier albums, but still really good and £3.49 for 40 songs is great value!

This CD gives me great memories of when Jo Whiley was presenting the Weekday 10am to 12:45pm slot on Radio 1.

Unfortunately, since last September Fearne Cotton has replaced Jo Whiley to present the show and it has become almost unbearable to listen to and there seems to be a lot fewer Live Lounges from less prestigious Band or Artists.

The "Music Generator" has to be the most patronising and dull feature you could ever hear on the Radio and Fearne's conversation with the caller each day is painful and cringe worthy.

In every single link between songs there is certain to be a combination of Fearne Cotton saying "Brilliant", "I love that" or "Tune" and when you keep hearing these over and over again it grates on you.

Maybe it was for age reasons why Jo Whiley is not presenting the Weekday slot anymore, because from and entertainment standpoint the show has gone downhill massively since Fearne Cotton took over.

Excellent memories and a Hot Deal!

I agree, used to listen to Jo While everyday while at work but now don't listen to Radio 1 at all.

However, I wonder what age you are? I wouldn't be surprised if you are outwith the 15-29 age demographic that Radio 1 is catering for. Possibly too many older people listening to Jo Whiley whereas maybe Fearne Cotton appeals to younger listeners?

Back on topic, excellent price for one of these albums.

I think that explains it perfectly. Radio 1 wants younger listeners and it seems that the air time between 10am and 7pm is now filled with younger, cheaper DJs who come out with nothing worth hearing at best and are moronic between 4pm and 7pm. I've had to switch to Kerrang! and Classic FM to get me through the day!

Oh, by the way, heat added (_;)

It's nice to read that other people share the same opinions as me. I'm 25 now, so that should put me near the middle of the target listener demographic that Radio 1 are looking to cater for. I agree with you that moving Fearne Cotton into the 10am to 12:45pm weekday time slot was designed to attract a younger overall audience of listeners as she seems to be idolised somewhat by 15-19 year olds as a Fashion Icon.

Is this not exactly the same thing that you said when this was on offer at Amazon for 3.2-something? ;-)

Huh? Should he/she have changed his/her mind about this subject by now for some reason?

Yes, well spotted. I thought it was worth posting my previous comments again as my opinion hasn't changed on the subject. As it turns out, the responses concurring with my observations are very similar on this Thread as they were to the previous one.

I meant word-for-word, like copy and pasted. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and had read that *somewhere else* before.

Tactical Tom, thanks for confirming that. I do love Jo Whiley, but I actually like Fearne Cotton as well. I find her much less irritating than she was as a children's presenter and have found her quite sweet and unpretentious. Also, I like the Generator except when she presents songs like "I Wish" by Skee-Lo and calls them "retro"...because then I feel old as f%*&!! ;-D
