aren't these all-graphite clubs better..?

EDIT: haven't done the research on this one, but the RRP is listed as £399.99 compared with the one listed which shows RRP of £169.99.

The RAM clubs (rrp £169) are sitting at 23 and the Prosimmon clubs (rrp £399) at 33 in the Amazon bestseller list. Both priced at £79.99.

Any experts out there know which of the two is better? Quality, graphite, 14 or 11 clubs?

If you go to the sports hq website via quidco you can get a further 10% off the Prosimmon (£79.99). The Ram are shown at £99.99 (rrp £299.99)

Thanks.

For the price both of these sets are great. If I was recommending a set for a beginner, I would go for the Prosimmon one. This is because you get the hybrid rescue wood that replaces the 3 and 4 irons. Woods are easier to hit than long irons especially for beginners. "Not just beginners, I have been playing for 20 years and they are still easier to hit than irons."

Hi, although I have little knowledge of the brands, the graphite is supposed to be more durable and provide more punch. The driver are also supposed to be better with wood in it for distance.

Number of clubs is important but at very high level when you know the difference between 5 and 6 iron. For beginer, the difference is not much so can easily substitute one for another. Higher the number on the iron, more elevation you get and less distance because of the angle on the head. For beginer who cant hit too far, a 5 iron would suffice when a pro would choose 7 or 8 iron to get the same result.

SO even if there are fewer clubs, Prosimmon does seem a better deal.

I love my Ram clubs. I bought mine two years ago and they're as good today as they were then. I play once a week (badly), never use the 3 or 5 wood because I can't. If you're not a Pro, buy them. I would!
Mine were a lot  more expensive than this at American Golf Discount.

Steel shafted clubs are better for those with a less powerful swing (beginners) as they are heavier.
I don't know anyone with graphite shafted irons.

hope they dont run out of stock as I have a bid on eBay for a set of clubs upto £100!

Can anyone tell me if the Prosimmon X30 are better than wilson matrix distance technology clubs?

Only difference is £20 but the Wilson ones come with a trolley

great find edi

ideal set for the beginner, if you find you enjoy the game upgrade to one of the top brands at a later date (callaway, titleist, taylormade, mizuno, nike etc) if you don't enjoy the game whack them on ebay, you might even get your money back!

i started with a simiular set then eventually upgraded to my current set (nearly £2000 worth!)

as for the graphite clubs - stay well clear unless your an old foggie or have a slow motion swing!

Which is the best set there then golfchip? or are Wilson ones btter?
#13
Hmm cheap price and all, but i'd probably prefer to do a tin cup and play with a garden spade. Allthough golf clubs are expensive throughout the market, a lot of R&D goes into the better clubs, even at the beginner end of the market and it shows in terms of feel, control as well as being more forgiving.

never heard of prossimon - wilson are better clubs than ram but for £79.99 i would go for the ram set you can't go wrong for that price! (my ogio golf bag cost over £100!)
if your 100% certain golf is the game for you mizuno tend to be the best value for money - if you have money to burn go for ping or callaway.

a couple of good unbiased websites are www.rankmark.com & www.golfdigest.com (hotlist)

hope this helps.

I thought the term "long Iron" was refering to the rescue Iron.

Also Im thinking of buying this set as a beginner, but im 6ft 1ins tall would I need a set adapted for my height?

possibly, depending on the length of your arms, if you look on the ping web site it will give you a good idea http://www.pinggolf.com/global_webfit.html

most pro shops will be able to lengthen them for you but it's quite expensive as they will have to cut the grips off insert studs into the end then re-grip them.

an option would be to get your spec from the ping web site then look for that spec on ebay.
