Synopsis
Jamie Foxx stars in this biopic of legendary soul and R&B singer Ray Charles. Skilfully edited and with a keen eye for period detail the narrative weaves in and out of the past in an interlocking tapestry of the mans rise to fame in the 1950s and 60s. Growing up poor black and blind in the rural south Charles learns under the tutelage of his tough-love mother (Sharon Warren) to turn these handicaps into assets. With this training Ray eventually plays his way into a major deal with Atlantic records and earns icon status as an American legend. Along the way the high cost of fame leads him to engage in abusive relationships manipulative behaviour and struggles with drug and alcohol problems. This is a dynamite film for the music alone (Charless actual recordings are used in the film) but Foxxs career-benchmark performance transcends RAYs biopic roots turning this into a piercing full-on character study unflinching sometimes harrowing and ultimately deeply moving. The sheer joy of Charless music comes alive in Foxxs movements and his character matures convincingly and powerfully. A stellar supporting cast is on hand to back him up every step of the way including Larenz Tate as producer Quincy Jones and Kerry Washington as Rays long-suffering wife Regina.

Hope you realised that this is not a DVD but a "HD DVD"? HD DVDs only play in HD DVD Players, which if you did not already know were the rival format to Blu Ray, but lost the format war.

Bear in mind this HD DVD, which is a defunct format, & won't work on a Blu-ray player or a standard DVD player, but a great price if you own an old hd dvd player, or the xbox 360 hd drive...

Jeez, HD-DVD is a dead format - why spend your money on something which is essentially a waste of money......

ONLY JOKING - I actually thought HD was a better format!

Dual-format HD-DVD/Blu-ray ROM drive + Media Center = WIN

Ray is my favourite film about a blind man with a wrist fetish (and quite possibly the only film).

But you wouldn't on VHS either would you? Not that I want to feed up the troll but that's somewhat of a facetious comment don't you think. The industry chose the format so we can pay more for a system that costs more and customers had no say in it. Kind of defeats the point of this site if you're a regular poster/user but kowtow to getting ripped off, no?

Its quite difficult explaining the history of HD-DVD as a blu ray competitor when the product in question is called Ray. Blue Ray? Who is Blue Ray?

I got this one ; http://www.blahdvd.com/DVD/CBeebies-Compilation-The-Ultimate-Party-Collection/BBCDVD2367/product.htm

It was in the DVD section ... When I Google product code it brings up same DVD @ HMV for £4.49 as the cheapest...

My Grandson will love it - IF he can watch it???

So are ALL / every single one of the DVD's on Blah DVD HD DVD's???
