Don't you have a portable battery charger like most ppl with smart phones and gadgets do so I do not see the problem with your silly comment

Ps you can charge it from a wall socket or in car charger anytime too

This is the year 2011, 2-3 hours battery from a PORTABLE games console is abysmal, 3d or not (DSi only lasted 4 hours too).

If you want to spend your day sat on your couch next to a wall socket because the battery life negates the purpose of portability then go ahead. I'd much rather have a console or gaming pc hooked up to a 50" display instead of staring at a tiny portable screen intended for on-the-go use but is incapable of it.

I really don't see why you are commenting on this thread since you have no interest in the product but I would love to see you playing your portable ps3 / 50 inch tv / imaginary wall socket to plug it into on the plane dude.

It's 3-5 hours on full settings, i.e. full brightness, full audio, wifi, streetpass, spotpass, 3D slider up full. How often does anyone have a system on full like this. Nintendo give you worse case projections unlike other companies.

I think most people do not want go into the system menu and manually turn off Wifi, Streetpass and Spotpass whenever they're not using it.

That's a silly thing to say, and here's my silly answer.

I go into my 360 menu and turn Kinect off when I'm not using it.
I turn off my GPS, Wifi, auto-rotate and bluetooth on my mobile when not using it.
I adjust the eq and other settings in my car headunit when required.
Same with the wifi on the ds lite when not required.

I could go on. Why wouldn't you turn off functionality you don't require?

Do you leave you car running when you get home because your going to use it in an hours time? Or leave the lights on in your home and TV whilst you going food shopping, so you dont have to do it when you get back.

It depends on how easy it is to get to. For instance, I always turn off wifi on my laptop when I'm not using is because it's as easy as turning a switch. However, on several other mobile devices you can't turn off the Wifi from the outside, and instead you have to go through several menu's before finally you find an option to turn off Wifi. If you only use Wifi once every few days then of course this is no big deal, but you don't want to do that every other hour.
Considering I only use these mobile devices for a few minutes in a row, actually finding these menu's would be more battery consuming and of course also more time consuming than just not bothering with it.

I'm not sure what it's like on the 3DS, but knowing Nintendo I expect it to be a hassle. Maybe if you either never want to use Wifi/Streetpass then it's no big deal, but I'm sure not going to turn it on every time I leave the house and then turn it back off when I arrive at my destination, then turn it back on when I'm travelling and turn it back off when I get home, day in and day out.

Each to their own I guess. A few seconds going through a menu is no big deal.

I just wish the first-party games were "release day" instead of "release window".
