Hollowed out with a candle inside? :? :)

Seriously though, go into some shops, you should always try helmets on anyway.
Also very small and very large sizes in bike gear are harder to sell, so you usually get then in the sales

Nice one... cheers m8!!

If you want a good value lid, without the compromise on safety, then go for BOX or HJC, both Gold standard ACU and get good sharp test result :-) The fact this is made from plastic, says it all.

Sharp ratings are below but Roxter aren't listed....

I always remember what my bike instructor told me many years ago........"spend on a helmet what you think your head is worth."

Wise words.

The local brothel advised me that head is worth forty quid so this lid is great value

Not voted cos i know nothing about this brand Roxter and in fact have never heard of them.
But you wouldn't catch me wearing it, even if it is cheap.

Sounds wise - but assumes the more you pay the better the helmet, which various tests seem to disprove. That said I'd be very wary of a cheap helmet unless some reputable testing organisation gave it a real thumbs up. Even then, if it doesn't fit YOU perfectly it's still a bad buy.

Around £100 seems to be the start point for a decent, branded helmet.

the whole helmet testing and certification thing is a mess!

awesome price and im sure it would save you in a crash

Some tw*t knocked me on my **** last year and I beleive that if it wasn't for my Shoei I wouldn't be here now. Don't buy £18 lids.
#23
All my lids have been nitros and they are perfectly fine if you ask me. They come with gold ACU rating also, but plenty of people dont think much of those ratings anyway. But the whole "spend what you think your head is worth" isnt stricly true these days. Expensive lids are expensive because of the brand, the design, the comfort, the extra features/gimmicks etc. But a nitro that fits your head well will serve you just as well as any shoei. And if you drop it you can buy another without crying about it or pretending you never did actually drop it.

I agree - safety doesn't necessarily depend on price especially if the helmet is discounted. If you look at the sharp ratings you'll find a big difference in the prices of helmets with the same safety ratings......

The other thing to consider is it better to pay £500 for a helmet which you keep for 10 years or pay a £100 for a helmet every 2 years....

I agree with that, and i also think that Nitro are good helmets for a budget lid. But i draw the line at helmet makes i've never heard of...... especially ones at £18.
